Bummed to hear only Jac and Dale are the only 2 All Stars coming to run against the IRA this Saturday at Wilmot. Sheldon is running A local car at both IRA shows this weekend. Guess at least the IRA guys get to run for a larger purse.

Sad. Bert Emick must be spinning in his grave. There was a time when I would rather go to a ASCoC race then a WoO race.
Now is not that time.

Those were the days when Bert ran the all star circuit with Rick Nichols as comp. director. That was a classs act orginization. The present owner can not even sell a sponser for Ohio sprint speedweek points fund. I am not a salesman, but that has to be one of the easiest sales ever. They had a 62 car count at Atomic this year.

It is not the product that is hard to sell, it is the salesman that is the problem.

Bert is not in his grave. I talked with Rick Nichols at Limaland for the Doty and Bert is doing well living in Daytona.

It is kind of funning though--everyone on this board complains about the WOO and the "travelling circus". The WOO has some pretty strict rules and commitments in place to keep things like this from happening. You'd better have damned good explaination why you aren't heading to a show once you sign up to run their schedule. Everyone on here can complain all they want about the dictatorship that is the WOO--but when they have a show--you know for sure--almost without fail- who is going to be there.
With that said--I'm pretty sure I will be heading the Wilmot anyways.

Only 2 All Stars are committed to traveling west through next week? We plan on racing with them when they come to the Williston Basin Speedway for the inagural 2 day race there. I hope we can get a lot of local car support so this event will continue next year.

I understand these groups need 'support' from the locals, but to run their rules, charge more at the gate for only a 'few' cars of their own? You would think they would force a few more of these guys to run and support the UNOH All Stars....... 2 years ago they supported with 6 cars, last year, maybe 7, this year? It is kind of silly if you ask me......Nontheless, I will be there in support of Sprint Cars in Wisconsin....

My take, time to realize it's not the name on the car, but the racing on the track. This event, with that purse, as a combo IRA/MOWA event = 40 plus cars. The best from both groups. They had a great show the last time they come together at LaSalle. Plus the $$$ goes to keeping local teams on the track.

I understand what you are saying. Not to be a name dropper, but I just got off the phone with Guy Webb and he explained a few things to me and in looking at it from his perspective, it makes more sense than it did to me before my phone call. It is good racing, one can only hope that Blaney has a little competition this year. Racing for first is kind of boring, but farther back is usually pretty good.

it is about the name on the car when you pay $13 for a regular weekly 410 show and then you are asked to pay $25 for an all-star show i would expect to have more then 2 extra cars show up(with names like haud and blaney). what do tracks pay the WoO, All-Stars, ASCS to show up to the track? do they pay the all-stars a per car fee since there is no guarantee on how many cars they are bringing like with the WoO

Don't be surprised if an IRA regular wins on Saturday.
Last year when the All Stars came through the plains, they got beat by NOSA regular (Thomas Kennedy @ Glyndon, MN) & Husets weekly racer Mark Dobmeier.

Is there no year end points fund for the All Stars? Seems odd that the other 8 guys in the top 10 would concede 5 points races by not attending...what am I missing?

It's not what your missing, more like what the car owner and DeWease got last year. Nothing. It was mentioned in one of the latest AutoareaRacingNews that Heffner is still in conflict over last years Championship check. One day these promotors will learn..

How can they call it an All Star race and run their rules at Wilmot with only 2 of them showing up? Run IRA rules!!!!
Real dissapointed in the All Star's (2 is all) lack of drivers. Glad TK will be there! IRA should put their foot down and trump Webb's rulebook.
I tell it like I see it.

Guy Webb told me today, that they do not force the guys to run with them, but they do contribute to their pockets a little bit for showing. He told me most of the guys cannot get 2 weeks off of work to run the western swing. Blaney, Jac and maybe a couple others race for a living, that is why they follow the trip. He told me they count on support and they hope that the fans, who ultimately are the ones to please, see a good show. He said the added purse may bring in some guys on the fence of running Wilmot, or elsewhere that night. They go to Husets for a Sunday show after Wilmot, then a few more races farther west, and head back east. He mentioned Rico Abreu and said he most likely is commited to Knoxville for Saturday night, and then he will join up with the UNOH tour in Husets. I fired out an e-mail found on Rico's website, pleading with him to come to Wilmot. So far no response and don't expect one. Webb told me they should have Jac and his son, Blaney and Kaeding. Sheldon wrecked his car, so he worked out a deal with a local owner to have a ride at Wilmot. He also told me of 2 other drivers, one wrecked and the other one lost his ride. I cannot remember who he was talking about. He also told me that it is a co-sanctioned event but with the All Stars running, they bring in sponsorship which makes the purse almost DOUBLE a normal IRA show, so for these guys, it works out. I am not sure what the IRA pays to start the A, but Webb told me to start is $400.00, $1000 for 10th and $5000 to win. I am sorry this is so long, but I hope it explains a few of the things some of you are concerned about, as was I, before my call. He supposedly will be there, hanging by the UNOH souvenir trailer, he would welcome feedback.

If you get there early enough, stop by south of the grandstands for a beer. There will be a few of us Hosers out there.
