Jefferson, SD-The roar will be restored this Friday to the Park Jefferson Speedway just north of Sioux City, IA for the inaugural Carlson Clash.  A sprint car shootout will kick off the 2014 season featuring the best of the ASCS Midwest Series and the Minnesota Mafia.  The ASCS series, sponsored by Speedway Motors, will be led by point leader Jordan Boston who currently holds a narrow point lead over for Knoxville Raceway point champion Billy Alley.  Following in third is Jack Dover followed by Danny Lasoski and Jason Martin. The Mafia points are led by Kaley Gharst who holds a slim lead over Casey Heser and Gregg Bakker.  Bakker was forced to miss the last event with a blown engine but will return this Friday in hopes of recapturing his point lead.  The Minnesota Mafia, run by Shane Phillips, Aric Gordon and others, have put together an impressive point fund for the upcoming year.  With a large number of drivers who are following the series, the racers are competing for a point fund of close to $15,000.  Joining the sprint cars on Friday night are the sport modifieds, hobby stocks and sport compacts.

Saturday, Park Jefferson will be night number 2 of the Carlson Clash featuring the powerful A Mods, Hobby Stocks, Sport Compacts, Thunder Cars and the newly added Street Stocks.  The Hobby Stock and Sport Compact drivers will be eligible for the DriverWebsites.com Double Dip challenge.  Any driver winning both nights will pick up an extra $100 for sweeping the Carlson Clash.

The Carlson Clash honors Park Jefferson founders Ted and Jo Carlson, who purchased the horse track in 1984 and converted the facility into one of the top racing facilities in the Siouxland area.

Friday gates will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:45 and racing at 7:30.  Adult tickets are $17 and children 6-18 are $8.  Saturday events have gates opening at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:00 p.m.  Tickets for Saturday will be $11 for adults and $5 for children 6-18.
