Check out the unbelievable video of Huset's completely flooded out. Some are wondering if the track is done for the year, the owner gives us the official answer http://bit.ly/1niwMGk

The midwest just keeps getting hammered by mother nature, tornadoes and floods year after year. Sad.

With all the rainouts & probably not the last of the rain this summer, maybe Huset's should consider adding a Sunday show or two in September.

RHC, you are very correct and we are most likely going to do just that. Plus some other non-Sunday dates prior are being stronly considered. As it stands right now, we've lost 5 events. We would like to at least make up 3. We'll keep you posted. Now let's do an update on today's current situation at the track. On Tuesday the water started going down at a good clip in the afternoon. By Tuesday night things were looking very positive. Now, a turn for the worse. It's Wednesday 4PM and the water is rising way up again. We've got water flow coming in from way upstream miles and miles away from the track that's now reaching us. What's tonight's forecast? Severe thunderstorms. Just know there are people working hard to get the operation going if only the weather will allow it to happen.

Heard this morning that with the recent rains Split Rock Creek is not suppose to start receding until late Thursday or early Friday now.
I read on KDLT.com this morning about some equipment that was damaged out there as well.

How awesome would it be if Huset's made it's post-flood triumphant return with a functioning scoreboard?!! Could you imagine how cool that would be? I mean just picture it!
Such timing. Very convenient. Much fan engagement. Wow
Edit: Can you at least address this? Why isn't it on this year? To my knowledge it hasn't even been acknowledged.

rumor on the scoreboard is parts are obsolete and there for not fixable. new scoreboard 80 to 150k and they don't plan on making the investment at this time. with the rain outs and flood the scoreboard is prolly the least of there worries.

My dad has an Oliver 66 tractor that was bilt sometime in the 1950's. We needed some parts for the PTO and we were able to find new in box parts so the "obsolete crap" does not fly with me.

It does fly with me. Try to get some parts for an old Lennox furnace, say a Pulse furnace (1980's) or something before vthat yet or better still, an old boiler. With a lot of the models, they quit making parts a long time ago and you cannot get them any more. And, I'm in that type of business so I do know.

He's spraying the water on that road because that is where the water crested. The water carried a lot of mud/sticks/debris with it and we've learned over the years it is easier to spray that off while it is wet compared to letting is sit and turn into "concrete."
As for the scoreboard... it works something like this. [8= a display location]
88--88--88-- 88--88 1st-2nd-3rd-- time/laps
With the parts that are out - it lights up like this:
8_--8_--8_-- __--8_ 1st-2nd-3rd-- time/laps
We've talked about it (over and over) on our Facebook page. We simply cannot get the parts to fix the areas that won't light up. We were looking into new options for a scoreboard/video board --- but as you can guess, that's not exactly the top priority right now.

My guess is the board is a Daktronics? I could be wrong, but beings that particular manufacture is based out of SD and thier items are extreemly popular in the midwest the item could have come from there? , I have worked with a local dragstrip that wanted to add some "win" lights closer to the trap, so each driver could see in his mirror if his "win" light was on/illuminated , the people at Daktronics were very helpfull and knew thier equipment (as per job) well, many times the cost of the repair is almost too much to bite into while still having a semi obsolete board when the job is complete, besides something else could go thro a catastrophic meltdown a week later and the board would be disfunctional again, you would be a fool to take your Oliver for complete restoration to a Ag shop now days, the cost per hr would kill the effectiveness, to each thier own, understood, equipment has its purpose and worthieness to each individual regardless for work or play, in this case everything is fixable, how much money do you want to spend is the real question?. maybe between Knox and Husets thier is one good board worthy of a new home somewhere.

Equipment on the track - Friday morning at 11.
Sunday’s race is on as scheduled, but it has been a tough week. Record-setting rainfall pushed the nearby Split Rock Creek into the “extreme flood” category twice this week. The water filled the speedway and raged through the parking lot. However, the creek is into its banks and the Huset’s crew was able to get onto the speedway and parts of the infield Thursday night.
“People think we’re done. People think we’re not racing. They thought the same thing in ’93 and we raced the next Sunday. We’re racing this Sunday, too,” said Huset’s owner Steve Rubin.
Huset’s management is now looking at adjusting the season’s schedule to add events to make up for the five that have already been lost to rain.
Sunday’s race starts at 7 p.m. Joining the Outlaw Sprints will be the Coffee Cup Fuel Stops Championship Sprints, Bolte’s Street Stock, B-Modifieds and Hobby Stocks.

If you race, we'll be there. Thanks for working so hard..
For those bitchin about the scoreboard, just buy the race monitor app for your phone. $2.99 and you get thousands of races from all over the country.

It's not only the fans bitchin, some of the drivers say they were used to seeing the laps left on the board, said they don't always give a lap count under yellows on the raceiver, also when the 410's TT you can't hear the lap times in the infield and for drivers/crew that are busy working/focusing on the car it's a bit easier to glance up at the board to see lap times rather than glued to a phone.
