DUE TO FANS INPUT PERRIS MAKES CHANGE IN RACE NIGHT FORMAT!

(Perris, CA, April 24, 2014)  Due to input from the racing fans, there will be a change in the race night format when the Amsoil USACCRA Sprint Cars, PAS Senior & Young Gun Sprints and the California Lightning Sprint Cars return to the “Southern California Home of Major League Sprint Car Racing,” Perris Auto Speedway, on May 3rd.

The USAC/CRA main event has traditionally been the fourth and final main of the night.  Starting next Saturday it will be the second of the four main run.  A majority of the crowd comes to watch the USAC/CRA portion of the show and many of them travel long distances from as far away as Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Northern California.  Many would like to get an earlier start on their journey home.

“In an effort to provide our loyal fans a better experience at the speedway, the main event lineup for May 3rd will be as follows,” Kazarian said on Wednesday morning.  “PAS Senior Sprints, will run first followed by USAC/CRA, PAS Young Guns and California Lightning Sprints.  This will allow those fans who are there for USAC/CRA only to not have to wait until the end of the night.”

Normally PAS shows are over in a timely manner, but every so often, a show will run late.  That was the case with the 2014 season opener.  Numerous fans made contact with track management and also voiced their opinion on social media venues.  First word of the change on Wednesday drew a lot of attention on social media watering holes and it did ruffle a few feathers.

“There were a few people who were unhappy when they heard of the change,” said longtime track announcer and publicist Scott Daloisio.  “They have to understand that about 80% of the fans are there for the USAC/CRA portion of the show.  Without those fans there, USAC/CRA would not be there and without USAC/CRA there would not be a sprint car show.  I talked to several people about it yesterday and when explained why the change was being made, they seemed to understand.”

Open wheel shows are subject to delays when cars flip.

“Flips in sprint car and midget racing are a part of the sport,” Daloisio said.  “That is something nobody has control over and it causes more time lost than anything else at all tracks.  When a car gets upside down even under the best circumstances it averages about 12 minutes until you are racing again.  The safety crew comes out and checks on the driver.  Then the car is picked up and taken back to the pits.  All of the remaining cars have to be pushed off to restart.  If it happens five times a night, that is one hour.  Once again, sprint cars getting upside down is part of the sport.”

Before the May 3rd sprint car show, The PAS will host “Night of Destruction #2” this Saturday, April 26th.  The wild and crazy program will feature Figure 8 races, Figure 8 Trailer racing Democross and Spectator races.  Gates will open at 5:00 PM.  There will be an on track autograph & photo session at 5:30 and the first race will be at 7:00.

For more information on The PAS call: (951) 940-0134.

Camping for all events at The PAS is available for $25.00 per night.  The campground will open at noon on Friday.  Tailgating in the spectator parking lot will begin at 1:00 PM for all PAS events as well.

Thank you Don and staff!

I may not be taking advantage of this too often... but I know it will let people who do have longer drives to get on the road. It should reduce congestion a bit for those leaving after the show is over also.

Now, if you could convince the CRA to pit where the WoO were pitted, they could interact with the fans after the main or get an early run at getting on the road themselves.

Great idea Buzzard. ,,,,, Having the USAC;CRA sprints pit outside turn number 1 would be awesome for the fans as to were the fans can go into the pits to see there drivers and car owners, buy t-shirts and still be able to head home at a good time.  this would be the cherry on top,   if the PAS would allow this to take place. ,,,,, If this can not happen than the drivers may take a little hit on loss of t-shirt sales. ,,,,, or the thay can have there cars at the front entrance at the openning, ,,,,,,, than the drivers can  mingle with the fans as they come in. ,,,,, sale there t-shirts. ,,,  A GQQD way to start out the night.   !!!!!  Back in the SCRA days thay would have the drivers and cars at the front gate all the time.   That was great. ,,, This set the day right being able to talk with the drivers in a com setting before the night sets off.  ,,,,,, I hope the PAS can make one of these happen.  Now this would be a good way to get new fans to get to know the drivers and to see a Sprint car up close. ,, So when the show starts ,,,, that new fan will have a better  feel  on what they talked  about with the drivers and to under stand the aspects of Sprint cars cars. ,,,, This would be a great way to meet ""NEW"" friends. ,,,,, More butts in the stands . ,,,,   John Jensen. ,,,, The turn 4 hood            '   now we are ready to back to racing '       STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS.

This seems to me the way our pols make granny laws. Listen only to the grannies pissing and whining and then shape the law to keep these whiners quiet. Are the food vendors going to be happy about half their customers heading for the exits halfway thru the show?

What food. ,,, and what thay do have for what thay call food is way over priced  $$$$$$.  I would rather leave the track early and stop to get something to eat on the way home. ,,,,, and still get home before 11;15 pm. ,,,, and thats after driving 100 miles. ,,,,,,, Thank you PAS. ,,,, ZZ

For all of you that want us to pit outside like the outlaws, maybe you all could donate a large amount of money to every team so they could have a15,000 grand rolling tool box to lug their spares in and out of the track like the outlaws have.
Yes,the team i'm the crew chief on has one but we're one of the few that do,most of the teams can't afford that luxury as it takes all they got just to put a car on the track for your entertainment. So lets add another exspence to buy or build something to haul their spares around to a bunch of already tapped out car owners, that makes a lot of sense.I guess if we raced for 10,000 grand to win and 800.00 to start like the outlaws do,more teams could afford such luxuries. I would much rather take our car and t-shirts out front for a fan meet and greet than pit outback.

With the CRA main starting earlier, good chance I will make more shows  Smile

If they run a timely show, I may stay around for the Lightning guys, but if its late, pretty good chance I will get an early start home for the hour and half drive home (if I am lucky).

You know. ,,,, It would be nice to having the USAC/CRA Sprints pit out side of turn #1. ,,, When the main is over ,  the fans would be able to get in the pits right away,,,,, While the young guns and the Flash lites are running there mains. ,,,,BUT  now if the USAC/CRA Sprints were to pit in the infield ,,,,,, then the fans fan will have to stand buy for a minimum of half hour to 45mins and thats if there are no Red flages,  ,,,,,, For this to work wright the Sprints need to pit out side turn #1 for the fans can leave early. ,,, This is the purpose of the early change . ,,,, And yes this does cause a prblem for all the pit tool to get out into the in field. ,,,, This would be A BIG hassle for all the teams . ,,,,,""BUT"" There is another way for the fans can see the drivers and cars while thay are clean and fresh. ,,,, And that is to have the drivers and cars  out at the front gate so all the fans are greated buy all the drivers ,    This is a good way for USAC to thank all the fans for comimg out to support  the USAC/CRA show. ,,,,,,  For a new be fan ,,  this would be great way for that new fans to see the cars while they are clean ,,,, And be able to talk with a driver to under stand the aspects of Sprint car racing. ,,,, and the youn kids getting to sit in side there favorite car is the best fan apprsation The PAS could ever do.   So now you have a new fan sitting in the stands with some new knolage on what to expect when the sprints hit the track. ,,,A new fan gets to know what a stager is and what kind of fuel that thay use,,,, And so on. ,,, And the new kid that got to sit in a sprint car ,,, is now watching the car race around the track. ,,,,,, Note.   If the USAC/CRA sprints were to run at the PAS more offten., Than do this every 3 weeks. ,,, But with the sprints only at the PAS once a month. ,,,,,  Having the cars lined up out at the front gate. ,,,, Is better than having the cars lined up on the track. ,,, This makes a nice GRAND enterance Into the PAS.   ,,, the fair grounds could put up a special on beer and pizza from 4;00 to 5;30. ,,,,, Now only coming to thr PAS just once a month. ,,,,, For a new fan this would be great. ,,, This is a good way to meet new friends. ,,,, This would help to keep and to get more fans in the stands. ,,OK ,,, That enough. ,,,,, John Jensen,   The turn 4 hood. ,,,,,  STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS  !!!!.

It was just a thought...

I have been thinking about Driver / Fan interaction, we really as a sport suck at it. At the end of the night when everyone is tired and parents want to rush the kids through stuff and the drivers and crews are trying to pack up just is not the same as the autograph and meet and greets.

The message every time, at least from the board posting crew is they don't want time with the fans or to be more visible working on cars and stuff because it's a pain in the ass.

Well... Santa Maria, you pit outside and bring your crap down into the infield before the main. Noone whines about pit rigs etc then. Vegas, same thing. In fact, Perris is one of the few with an infield pit area.

Buzzard,

I and the majority of all teams have absolutly no problem with fan interaction in the proper setting, which in my opinion would be before the races out front or on the front straightaway when everyone is in a relaxed mood instead of during the races when the drivers and crews are a lot more intense and are concentrating on the task at hand and might come off to people as being jerks or short with them.Since at that time we're engrossed in making our cars as fast as possible and safe as possible for not only our own drivers but our competitors as well.

As far as Santa Maria and Vegas goes you obviously haven't heard the talk among teams about what a pain it is to drag your stuff into the infield,I personally don't even want to support Santa Maria, since after the last time we raced there nobody ever has been paid.

Yes Perris is one of the few tracks that has infield pits, but the big difference is that the tracks we pit outside of also have their work area outside the track which means less distance for teams to bring their spares to,not like the country mile it is at Vegas.

Perris is just not properly set up for pitting outback, everyone is complaining about the length of the show, well how much down time is created by moving cars back and forth through the one and only entrance and exit.

You teams bring your goods out front for a meet and greet, not only will you get more seats filled you will sell more goods . Great idea. I'll buy into that.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Dirtface,,,,,I agree with you ,,,, Meet and greet out front at the front gate. ,,,, A good time for the teams to sell there goods. ,,,, It is more of a relaxed atmosphere, being out front at the front gate. ,,, Back in the days of SCRA they used to do this all the time. ,,, This is a good way for the PAS and USAC  to thank the fans that support them. ,,,, This would be a great time for Buzzard to take pictures of all the fans with their favorite cars and drivers. ,,,, then post them here on the web sight. ,,, the fans would get a kick out  of seeing themselves on this post. ,,,, This get everyone involved and have some FUN. ,,, Open up the front gates at 4;00. ,,,, John Jensen. ,,,, The turn 4 Hood. ,,,,, STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS !!!!!.

Fine then start taking fan tickets at 3:30 you get a hour out front. That's a lot longer than most of us spend in the pits after the race.

We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

Any feed back from anyone  on  the meet and great out at the front gate. ,,,, On having the drivers meeting out front with USAC  So the fans can be there to listen in. ,,, This would be like the fans getting inside information on what to expect for that nights show. ,,,,,,, Open the front gates for the fans at 3;30 . ,,,, Drivers meeting at 4;30 -  out front with the fans. ,,,, Hot laps start at 5;15. ,,,,,,, This would give the fans 1 hour with the cars and drivers. ,,,, and than the drivers meeting. ,,,,, This would  be ' OUT STANDING ' for the fan base that shows up to support the USAC/CRA Sprint cars . ,,,, Not to mention this would be a great fan apprecaition from the PAS.     Wait do you think??????. ,,,,,, ZZ

the main body of the crowd does not get to the track until after 6 pm . i make it a point to watch the stands at intervals each race . hopefully this change will help those hard core 410 sprint car fans to get home a little earlier and get a great nights sleep .  something it may change is some of the usac guys will be loaded up ready to leave when the people from the stands get their chance to go to the pits , this will be disappointing for some fans ,  some of the drivers will be gone . in my opinion this is a step backwards . the only real answer is getting all the racing done before 10 pm . i have seen it done at other tracks with more cars . i have no problem with the race format or the time i get home . i believe the pas does an outstanding job , and i look forward to going there each and every time !
