You hear people say "it's all part of racing" and any other excuse you want to throw in there. Here's an observation from a 29 year driver, the last 10 years in sprint cars.
My observations are that many drivers seem to have good excuses for having bad luck, racing incidents or being overly aggressive (the win it or wear it mentality). Let me tell you something - a truly good driver is one that can consistently run up front, have the brains to make good decisions in the heat of the moment and bring the car home in one piece. Sure, accidents happen - and sometimes it's your own fault and you have to live with that. But the drivers who consistently have their names associated with negativity - whether it is dirty slide jobs, high # of wrecks, always seem to be fast but bad luck always strikes - are usually the ones who wash out in the long run.
Why do you think the drivers that are actually making a living racing sprint cars can do just that? Do you consistently see these drivers names associated with negativity: Gary Wright, Jason Johnson, Donny Shatz, Steve Kinser, Lance Dewease, Greg Hodnet to name a few. These guys meet the main requirement of being a great driver - their is not a dark cloud of negativity that follows them into the pits every night. They respect other drivers, their sponsors, the fans and their car owners investment. The sponsors, fans and other drivers respect them equally as much.
And you know what - you don't have to be a gutsy, egotistical, "win it or wear it", slide for life on 80% of your passes to earn this respect. In fact - Brian is losing respect in the racing community with every bonehead thing he does. Hell, at this rate I'm not sure he can overcome the negative publicity he's got surrounding him to ensure good rides keep coming his way.
In summary: When you are no longer an asset to your organization and you become a liability, it's time for you to go. That's the way we do things in the real world and in business. And isn't racing in the upper echelon becoming a business? I wouldn't be surprised to see some things change drastically in the Brian Brown camp in the future. Either he becomes an asset to the organization or he's got to go in my opinion!

Jesus BESTFRIEND lets get a little more dramatic 1. Brian is a stand up guy and a MAN he got himself into this and will get himself out of it 2. Randy Anderson is not going to teach Brownie a damn thing from his living room or wherever he vanished to. 3. From a sponsor standpoint Brownie is a dream come true a bright, articulate, people person, but more importantly a WINNER 4. To call for a boycott is idiotic I hope Brian comes to your work and gets a bad carton of french fries and goes on hoseheads and calls for a boycott of your McDonalds

Ok I have only posted on this forum once before and it was to reply to this same idiot. "Randy Anderson is not going to teach Brownie a damn thing from his living room or wherever he vanished to?" For your information I had Emergency Gall Bladder Surgery 4 weeks ago and I'm sorry that my doctor and I don't feel that driving a sprint car is the best thing for myself and my family right now. Trust me if I thought I felt well enough to race I would I am going to miss my first Knoxvile Nationals in the last 10 years because I don't feel good enough to race. I will be in Knoxville tomorrow at about 2 o'clock in my motorhome behind the racetrack it is a grey and green Fleetwood I will be sitting there waiting for you. If you have anything more to say to me I would encourage you to come see me there. Or I think I might be feeling good enough to shut you up on the spot!!!!!
See you soon,
Randy Anderson

Not that Randy needs it but if I was to list the people standing in Randy's corner for this invitation I'd be here all day. Get well young man, stay safe and don't ever forget you got a family to take care of now and it appears your priorities are as wise as your choice in women, lol. All the best, Take It Easy....

You know, it really doesn't matter if "Brownie" (Brownie's doin a fine job) took Martin out on purpose or not. It was still a bonehead move. "Brownie" shouldn't be to disappointed, the way the points look this morning he still gets to start in the A tonight. Martin gets to work his way up from the back of the B. When Martin got out of his destroyed car Thursday night he should have walked over to "Brownie" and punched him square in the face and then sent him a bill for the damages to his car. Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.

Randy, you are doing the right thing. I am missing my first nationals in 10 years because I have a daughter to send off to college. Family come first. As for the Brownie debacle, stuff happens. He feels aweful about the whole thing. C`mon people, get over it already.

Seriously??? Have you ever talked to or listened to him talk? If he's such a dream come true, where is all the big sponsorship clamoring over each other to get to him? Arrogant and cocky, yes, articulate, questionable, and a people person - ONLY if it benifits him and his "image" - otherwise he's pretty much just another no personality jerk.

no shit. Brian Brown is never going anywhere. He's good at Knoxville and he's good in a 360. Get him runnin all-stars or WoO and he won't be that good. No one wants him though - ANYWHERE. And even if someone did I don't think they could afford it because he tears so much stuff up. If you care for your own equipment or anyone else's.........you don't consistently make stupid decisions like that.
But man it was GREAT to watch that motor let go int he A Main.
How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would

If you knew anything about Brian, you would know that the first car he has wrecked in a long time was this year. The 360 car he flipped was a couple months ago and it had over 150 nights on it! The only reason it went over was becaues he hit a rut on the track that everyone else was hitting, not to mention the few other cars that hit it and also flipped. You don't get that many nights on a car by "tearing so much stuff up" as you say! To my knowledge it has been quite a while since he has wrecked a 410 car. Brian works on the car and he even does a lot of the maintence during the week on it.
I know of quite a few more race teams that have spent 3 times the money the Doogs have spent on repairs. I like Billy but her is an example... Billy Alley totalling a car in hot laps, flipping another car in his heat and then in the B hitting the wall coming out of 4 all in ONE night..... there is more money spent there in repairs that the Doogs have pry spent all year!

You are correct. Brian doesn't tear up many of HIS cars. He has a habit of wrecking everyone else causing them to tear up their car. I also, was very happy to see his motor go up in smoke. Hopefully the 410 will do the same during the next points race. I will give Brian a little credit. He drove a clean race in the 410 last night but since he drove clean he really didn't pass many people except the ones that dropped out. It's amazing what the difference makes.
