Knoxville Raceway's General Manager, Brian Stickel says the drama and excitement that happens each week in Knoxville will be portrayed in a way that will draw new fans to the sport of open wheel dirt track racing. "MAVTV is the perfect outlet for the Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series to reach all the fans who cannot see the event live," Stickel said. "MAVTV is available in 65 million households, where people are hungry for real racing action and stories. Through this show we are determined to give it to them," he said....http://www.sprintsource.com/news/?i=19861

If you have Mediacom for TV then you will no longer be able to watch Knoxville weekly it seems, since they do not carry MAVTV. Seems strange that Knoxville Raceway would shut out the primary cable company in central Iowa (with hundreds of thousands of subscribers) if they are wanting "reach all the fans that cannot see the event live". At least last year we could purchase PPV if we could not attend. Now it seems we are shut out totally.

Time to lobby Mediacom to put this channel in the lineup. I intend to start sending emails tomorrow.

I will also but I assure you that Mediacom is not really into making customers happy by adding channels. That's because they have a monopoly in the area & they know it. So I guess my complaint really should be with the state that doesn't break up that monopoly. That said, let's try anyway...EVERY central Iowa mediacom user that reads this.

" MavTV is on DISH Network Channel 361, and is available to all DISH Network subscribers in High Definition."

PPV live broadcasts will still exist. You can get same great coverage every week. lets hope mediacom will see the value in adding MAVTV. The show will feature the great racing at Knoxville but will also take you behind the scenes to see the drama and excitement That has never been seen before. Think of this show as the nfl films of sprint car racing.

If you're inferring that Mediacom subscribers up and change, there's a little more to it than that. In my area of Iowa, there's no viable internet provider outside of Mediacom, and they heavily discount for combining services. Dropping cable TV for stand-alone internet really drives the price of the internet up. There are other ISPs in the area but none offer near the speeds Mediacom has. It's quite an unfortunate setup, but I know I personally need a high-speed connection for business. Kind of a crappy situation but it's not quite as simple as drop Mediacom and grab DISH.

Does anyone know exactly what length of show and what day each week it will be broadcast? Is this going to be a "reality" series of behind the scenes action or will they actually summarize the races and results only? They tried a "reality" series about modified drivers here in KC at Lakeside and it didn't go over well, so I hope that's not what this is.

I'm sure those announcements are forthcoming.
My guess is a Wednesday or Thursday broadcast (similar to what they did on Mediacom).
Length sounds like it will be dictated by how much advertising they are able to sell (sound like as of last week, a 30 minute show).
From what I've been able to gather, it will be a racing highlight show with drama and other clips sprinkled in (similar to some of their youtube videos featuring drivers, officials and the like.
If it's done as well as some of their youtube stuff has been over the last year, it should be very good.

Same situation up here in Forest Lake, Minnesota, with Midco bundled service. I used to have Midco stand alone internet along with Dish then we switched to DirectTV for a couple years. Midco was after us to combine internet and television and it saves us money so we don't plan on switching back.
They had the Chili Bowl on the big screen at the UMSS Banquet after the awards presentation and I liked what I saw of it. Nevertheless, I'm not going to spend $50 more per month and have separate internet and TV providers in order to get it. My interest in racing goes back to the early 60's so I remember waiting a week for NSSN to come in the mail. Even if a person doesn't have MAVTV there is an endless supply of text results, YouTube clips, live Twitter feeds so it's not like anybody is out of the loop if they can't watch a race. The internet of ten years ago didn't even off that. I think we've still got it pretty good even if we don't all have MAVTV.

Let Me clearify what my thoughts were - Makes sense to ME that Knoxville would decide to go with a TV deal that provides NATION WIDE COVERAGE instead of a local operation that doesn't even cover the WHOLE state.
I'm not saying anyone needs to switch from their cable company to DISH, that's completely up to you. I personally switched from Mediacom several years ago because of their crappy service (and I live in Des Moines), their attitudes towards customers and that every six months or so the increase in their fees for the exact same programing.
Again just My opinion (and like the old saying "opinions are like a-- holes everyone has one") - Just good business for Knoxville I think.

Stupid thought. .... is this a lot different than any NFL team blacking out a game locally if it doesn't sell enough tickets ? Theory being that we want to force the locals to come to the game and make those of distance really want to come to the game by continuing to allow them to see the game ? I don't have a dog in this fight. .. I live 3 hrs away and gladly drive to see weekly shows !
