I still wish there was some way to put a limit on the $$$$ that is spent on these motors. I know the claim deal doesnt work with other classes but if it was more reasonable maybe like $10 complete that would help slow down the guys spending $20 on them. ?????? Keep it a working mans class.

It will never happen.305's have their place, but fans much prefer to watch 360's and 410's. 305's dont bring the fans. 305's are now dead and gone here in Mo.

If they keep them sealed and are inspected correct before seal that will help keep it semi affordable for a sprint car. There is a paper trail on each head with a serial number. Each head is measured at different places in ports. If these are not the same before engine is resealed after a rebuild it is not legal. If owners will consider this a fun class that will help alot.

They will never take over the country, just regions. Like the 360's have. 410's are still it in parts of the country, in other parts you can drive for 20 hours and not see a 410 race. Same with the 305's. They've pretty much taken over Texas for weekly racing....looks like they're doing the same in Nebraska and I'm sure Iowa (with the exception of Knoxville) will follow but in other parts of the country, you could drive for 20 hours and not see one.

Hopefully never. They don't bring the spectators, they lower the payout across the sport and just like the 360's I suspect that they will become very expensive to race. Then what, 283's? When I first got involved in Sprint Car Racing I thought that the 305 was the way to go. Today, not so much. They are also no where near as much fun to watch, even from my perspective in the pits.

Obviously you weren't there for the 305 Supernationals at Eagle this year. 2 days of side by side racing and the finale had almost every car on the lead lap.
Not fun to watch?? I beg to differ!!!

You might have had a real good one there Eagle Pit Shack Guy. I wouldn't know as I wasn't there. I have not seen a 305 race that has been all that exciting though, and I have been going to them since 2009. From a spectator standpoint if I did not own a car I would not go to watch them.

I may just do that. May not be able to convert my car to run with you, but I may make the trip just to see what you have going on.

It would be good to standardize sprintcar racing. That in itself would make it more affordable. I watched the 305 cars at devilsbowl run the same night as the 360 cars and can be honest and say it's hard to tell a difference. Now as far as them taking over, they are gaining popularity sure but that comes with $$$. Eagle guy, do you know what it cost for the motor that won y'all's national race. It is an asi motor and it cost $24,000. Not talking bad about them. They are the best motors built and he does a lot for them and at some point you will have to be running one to compete. Just the cost is going up with the car counts. 360 all over again??

never for many reasons
IMCA has been trying different affordable sprint starter classes for many years, this is most likely the most expensive of all of them,

people do not really want to see close racing with everyone on the lead lap, if they did, there are dozens of kart and micro classes that provide that, they want to see the fastest wildest cars of the style of car they like,

I don't see them taking over the country - WAY to many different groups wanting to run their own package.
Like I've said before if all the different tracks would get together throw their EGO's out the window and EACH GROUP would be willing to give and take and honestly work for the betterment of the 305's then and ONLY then would they maybe take over the country.
