I am from New Zealand and have been a Sprintcar fan since I was6 years, thats 32 years. All we ever used to hear about was how amazing the World of Outlaws was and how its the Pinnicle of Sprintcar racing, yet whenever I go on Hoseheads most of the time all I read is how much the WoO sucks. Just wondering why so many people on here hate the WoO?

so is the WoO not what it used to be? As far as I can tell there has never been all that many drivers per season that followed the series, whats changed?

Not much has changed. They are the 600 pound gorilla an there are folks who want to take them on. The corporate setup of the World Racing Group sometimes leaves a lot left to be desired, but your best drivers all want to be out on the road with the outlaws.

first let me say that Americans are very fond of Australians and we enjoy it when they come over to race. Now, it seems that some of us in USA have to get up in the morning and hate something. They say they hate the WRG but what is it they hate? I do not think many people know much at all about WRG other than they promote races. We have alot of great young drivers that could race with WOO, but we lack car owners. Racing travel has become so costly with diesel feul and other things that some drivers want to run thier own schedual and travel alot less miles. Brian Brown could compete with WOO but he does his own thing really well and I think he probably runs 70-80 races a year. There are others also.

It gonna be a sad day when the grandfathered outlaws retire and we have to hope other names can raise funds to travel full seasons . When ANY Sprint cars series goes away and or loses drivers and sponsors . We all lose. I enjoy the WoO when they come to north Cali to run with our 410 wing guys and I for 1 will continue to support them. I Like Sprint Car Racing period.
We need more sprint car racing at our home track.

There have been attempts to start another series but have ended up the in failure. The late model series has actually done better and Lucas Oil has been a key.The WOO is able to pay $10K and $6Kto win plus point money and tow money to the top teams and so far has basically done what was initally agreed.Even at that without sponser money it would be hard to compete on purse money alone. The cream of the young crop seem to go to NASCAR and some have drivers have given back a lot which helps the WOO survive plus when Stewart,Kane, now Larsen show up the fans love it..As much as I like sprint cars lack of TV coverage [even 5 minutes of high lights] plus a few of the top drivers that are great drivers but not much for P.R. doesnt help.At first people thought the WRG wouldnt make the first year but are still going. In America it seems to be the thing to do to complain about everything that is in power .Weekly tracks struggle as all a lot of people seem to do is text or talk on the cell phone especially the young ones, insurance keeps going up,and motors keep getting more expensive. The $25 to see the best is still well worth it .I still would like to see more passing as most races are still won from the first couple of rows.

AMEN Dirtface!. I too wonder what will happen to the WOO when Steve retires. Steve is still the man and the whole WOO Sprint series is based on his appeal as King of the Outlaws!
Steve and Sammy ARE the two main draws in all of sprint car racing, period. Schatz, Dollansky, Rahmer, Kaeding, Saldana, Pittman may be great drivers, but all of them combined don't have the draw of just Steve or Sammy.
While Sammy isn't as polished(?) a speaker as Steve , Sammy porvides a perfect contrast to the likable and personable Steve. Sammy is just quiet and people interperate his focus and determination as "unfriendly" which is not the case when you meet and talk with Sammy away from the track. Love him or hate him, Sammy is an extraordinary talent as a driver, mechanic and innovator.
I've been EXTREMELY fortunate to have been able to watched the Big 3 in thier prime. Unfortunately, I think we have seen the best era of sprint car racing in the rear view mirror.

lol,,, I do not see that happening ,,,, I do not believe Forrest has any interest in the Outlaws especially when they are sponsored by his competitor.

Just like with anything, the top organization will get the most heat. Even in sprint car racing, the top tracks garner the most criticism, like Knoxville and the Grove.

32 years ago there wasn't any Internet where any yahoo with a warm body can voice their opinion to other warm bodies. You used to be blissfully ignorant to the politics of the sport, but now everyone has access what how big Steve Kinser's dog's balls are. The Internet tends to be a negative place overall in case you haven't noticed.

The most popular sprintcar forum is an easy channel for people to spout hate. If the WOO is soo bad where are the competing organizations ready to take the crown?
I agree it will be a sad day when Steve and Sammy retire. However I for one don't go to the races to see only these guys. I attend WOO races b/c I know that collectively this is the best group of sprint car drivers in the world and all the other "local" drivers get jacked up as well to race with and against them. If Steve and Sammy, aren't there...I'll still be going.
It will be an interesting 5-10 years when those who were part of the WOO when it started decide to move on. The WOO have plenty of stars to continue to pull large crowds at events....Schatz, Pittman, Craig, Joey, Paulie.
Gone are the days of having the Steve Kinsers, Sammy's, Doug Wolfgang dominate with the equipment the top teams nationally and locally have. Schatz is the closest thing we currently have and he's not dominating the series in POINTS.
With so much parity now I can see the big personalities, owners and drivers, will actually be the rockstars of tomorrow and I'm fine with that as long as we have some group or somebody still promoting the best of the best in sprint car racing. I'd be very curious to know which teams sells the most shirts and that may be very telling who the WOOs future is.
Keep It Real

It's not the WoO ... it's this message board specifically. 95% of the guys that post regularly on this board have zero understanding of racing and the sport. They just like the hear themselves speak. Check your source of the information, not the WoO.

Totally agree allardfan. The message boards started out as good for the sport, but over the years have turned ugly with all the name calling and bickering. Many of the haters do not attend races and are "computer" tough guys. The Outlaws still sell out most places and continue to put on great shows all over the country. believe it or not most fans don't know what Hoseheads is.

Why don't you ask Andy Forsberg about his $5K bonus. He might have a little hatred for WRG. I think you might get a few less than favorable responses from the people that run the Dirt Modified Tour of WRG after 2011 Syracuse show. The mofified winner was found to have an oversize fuelcell in tech after the race. So they only paid half the winners purse to Stewie Freisen. Were did the other half of the winners purse go (25K) ? So, in retrospect to WRG as the police would say after a mugging nothing to see here lets move along.
