anyone else notice everytime saldana gets a mic in his hand he always whines about how "tough it is" on the road. quit whining get a straight job.

i dont wanna hear about "how tough" it is. he doesnt even say family. If he doesnt wanna do it take a straight job like the rest of us. He is the only person i hear saying that nonsense.

He does come across as whiny, its a fair observation in my opinion.

Whenever Im at a track and he is getting interviewed his interviews are kind of a downer and make you cringe.

Being a good sprint car driver, which Saldana is, doesn't mean you know how to give a good interview.

I was always surprised that Kasey didn't have Saldana spend a day with a professional to coach him on the proper way of being interviewed.

As to the original post..well, it's Friday and some parents let their kids stay up later!

Didnt hate him before I heard him start whining about a p2 coupke yrs ago at spencer. If a guy is gonna whine about driving a racecar for a living he doesnt need to be there. world needs ditch diggers.

I never took it as him whining...more of stating the obvious that its tough competition week in and week out and keep the car performing consistently while your away from your family. Trust me, no one loves sprint car racing as much as Joey but he also loves his family as well. Granted its not as tough as being away at war but I then again I haven't heard Joey ever say "This is tougher than being over in Iraq at war." May get old hearing about it to some but again, I never accused Joey of being a motivational speaker. He just seems shy by nature, just wants to get in the car and race and when he has time, be with his family.

You're an idiot!! Who wouldn't miss their family when they're on the road all time?? Racing is his job he has to do what  he has to do to provide for his family. So yeah I'd imagine being on the road all time and away from your wife and kids would definetly be hard.  You're prolly some single fat loser that goes to the races be himself orders a bunch of track burgers and sodas from the concession stands and looks around at all the other people who actually have someone and familes. Saldana is one of the best sprint car drivers to ever get in the seat, so so what if the guy doesn't interview well ( so you say).  I've always thought of Joey as the quiet shy type, but I'll tell you one things he's one of the nicest drivers in sprint car racing. Never seen him turn a fan away for a picture or an autograph, he's always taken time out for his fans.

I would agree totally. Of course, you are disappointed when you don't win the Knoxville Nationals a couple of times.  But it's your job to your sponsors to act right. Smile for a few photos and be professional.  I would have to agree Joey is a downer sometimes.  It could be worse.  He could be like Dave Blaney with no personality at all especially with the photographers and media.  He made it all the way to Nascar and has made a nice living driving race cars.  I know drivers just want to be drivers but in this day and age you have to be a little more personally.  Drivers tend to whine when they are not getting the things THEY think they need to win.  Look at Danny Lasoski when he was driving for Tony Stewart the year they were having all their engine troubles with Mopar.   He whined himself right out of a job.  No one ever said all race car drivers were smart.
