INDIANAPOLIS (June 28, 2013) – Levi Jones, one of the most decorated drivers in the history of the United States Auto Club (USAC), is retiring. Jones, a seven-time USAC national champion who earned six of those titles with Tony Stewart Racing (TSR), is ending his driving career effective immediately, and will turn his focus toward his family and working within his family’s business - See more at: http://dirtracingreport.com/levi-jones-announces-retirement/#sthash.CDjuzGwa.dpuf

WOW, to say the least!!!!! An awesome driver who will be missed by all who follow non-wing USAC sprints & midgets. However, family must always be one's 1st priority. Wish he & his family all the best in his retirement years.

Wow. That's pretty surprising. I had the pleasure of meeting him on a couple of occasions at Perris Speedway in Southern California and Thunderhill near Austin, Texas. He was always very accommodating while conversing with the fans signing autographs.

He's going out on top. Best wishes to him.

Am I the only one wondering if the Leffler incident could have hastened Levi's retirement?

In the end, it's whatever makes him and his family happy. Even at 31 years old, he doesn't have a whole lot to prove to anyone. Multiple championships in two USAC classes. His record speaks for itself. If there are underlying reasons behind his retirement, that's for him to either tell or keep to himself, and I respect that. I think a big thanks is in order for providing some good entertaining racing over the years. Good luck to him in his new endeavors.

Yes, "the incident" last year apparently upset Smoke. I think Jones should have gotten to keep his sprint car ride with Stewart. Good grief, Stewart taking away Jones' sprint car ride for something that is minor in comparison to dozens of much much worse situations Tony Stewart caused himself. He is the team owner and owners do what they want. Another driver who better get with the program is Jason Solwold. Could be 4 drivers in 2 years with the BWW husband/wife ownership. Justin Henderson, Lucas Wolfe, Solwold, and ??? Hope Jason Solwold gets a win soon along with regular top 5s.

Levi, I sincerely hope you enjoy doing what you want on your schedule now! If you need any help transitioning into civilian life, just give me a ring. Best regards. Mark Swanson # 21s

I agree.

Last night he only finished 19th I believe and only moved up three spots. That was a result of cars ahead of him wrecking so he really didn't pass anyone. I look for a short tenure in the 82 car.
