Copy and pasted from ventura's website. SCS New Surface Could Change 2013 Dramatically So far in the 2013 season, a plethora of new faces have shown the way for the VRA Sprint Cars. Tom Hendricks took the win on opening night and Guy Woodward grabbed the win last time out, his first for new car owner Luis Espinoza. Tomorrow night, everyone starts out on an even playing field as this week over 100 truckloads of red clay was delivered to the Ventura Raceway. The new clay has enabled promoter Jim Naylor to prepare an entirely new racetrack. While the clay is new, it is unknown how it will turn out and what differences it could produce. The clay, coming from a construction project on Highway 154, was sourced by former Ventura Raceway tow truck driver Paige Pollock. Work has been progressing nearly nonstop for the past four days with trucks delivering clay until the late afternoon. The new clay has once again added more banking to the track and allowed the banking to be applied evenly across the width of the track. The new surface will not only provide a challenge on the track but also off the track as the crews race to become the first to figure out the new surface. Their first chance is tomorrow night as the VRA Sprint Cars return for two straight weeks of action.
