I became obsessed with this car once again and chased down some more tidbits on the truth. THOSE WHO KNOW PLEASE MAKE THE NECCESSARY CORRECTIONS.

No. 13- Benny Taylor driver-1974 Okc title. Car - buggy spring front axle.

No. 76 [THE FIRST ONE]- four bar, converted from a buggy spring front Parson frame. THIS WAS THE 1976 TITLE HOLDER FOR OKC AND NCRA. It also ran as no. 13 for a short time in '75 for Taylor.

No. 76[THE SECOND ONE]- Parsons four bar. Run in 1977(?) but may have been substituted at times with the other cars.

The above car stayed a springer for many years and was run as a v6 modified at one time by Steve Overton.(?)

This car also ran later as a winged 6-cylinder but had an inline engine. I have access to pictures of when it looked that way and will post them soon if I can. The Bi-Centennial Special

This car is a Parsons with the body Suchy liked. I beleive it was run in 1977 and later until it was sold.[?]

The front tubes are different and the body sits on it different as well. I have access to pictures that prove the first 76 car lived on and raced at Lawton well into the '90s. Will post them when I can.

Now look at the tubes going out to the torsion bar tubes, they are straight.

There are other things too. Only Suchy used a duece grill, Parsons top, and a ducktail. Parsons had a hand in the completion of all three. This narrows down the field to three. The springer went on as a v6 car in the '80s, the Parsons is rumored to be in OKC, but the sweet spot car, NCRA_OKC titleholder for 1976, was this car here. If you ever went to Lawton in the '90s, you saw it with a sprint tail.

Somewhere I read or I was told the body was from a fiberglass shop in Broken Arrow, OK

Yes, the tail and nose were. Not sure about the hood. This is the way I've deduced from what I've read.

The first car was brought in to Walker(?) for a rework on the chassis and then taken to Parsons for the body. Broken Arrow Fiberglass Bodies made most if not all of the body pieces you see here. The top however I believe came from Parsons himself[not sure]. The tail on the first 76 car appears to have been narrowed somewhat. The pictures I hope to put on here show more angles. .

Apparently Parsons made an impression and the second 76 car was made by him. (?)

Each of the cars represented here had thier own bodies.

7-17-07--In no pictures did I see indication of a two piece hood when Leep drove it. The 2 piece modification was done later apparrently. Perhaps the driver who wanted a six in there decided to do this as it was probably hard to get another hood in the '80s. The four Dzeus fasteners remained though on the side of the cowling.

Okay, you may ask, what's the big deal? I ran accross the middle car 20 years ago at Ada. I had seen the usual square bodied cars of various nuance yet I hadn't seen this one. I didn't know the history of the car and it didn't register with me when I did hear about it. I do remember it had a special something to it, an almost "upper level, extra touch" to it's craftsmanship.

Simply put, it was fast, it was beautiful and it won races and two championships. I am trying to find it yet with little success. It's not about the money, it's about the art of a golden age that we have forgotten in modern racing.

This is my favorite square top super of them all.

This is the kind of body it was before Parsons put his touch to it. Even then they still made a sharp statement. Thank you Warren for all that you have provided on your site.

It wasn't very long ago (a few months) you could buy the ducktail and vicky bodies from Speedway Motors. I just checked and now they only list the vicky bodies.

The first 76 car is not in Okc. Hopefully it is still out there and maybe there is something left of it. I'm looking into it.

I checked and they are still listed. The tail is the same here as it was on the car. I was expecting a wider tailsection. This would take a lot of work out that part.

You've got two of the biggest collections of 100" stuff in the country down there in Oklahoma. Paul Martens in Fairview, OK and Mike Pogue in Claremore.

Up here in Kansas we have the Kansas Antique Racers There next meet is Aug 25 I think for the Evart Isaac Memorial in Dodge City.

Several restored 100"ers belong to the organization.

I have a super that is a collection of stuff I liked about all of them that I could fit onto one car. My car is an old McClelland that has been covered with an Edmunds body. I also have an old '33 Chevy coupe that was one of the last wide body cars to be built for Lawton. Check out the Photo Gallery under the name ---brian26. I have two spots, the one with the primered coupe contains pics of both cars.

Sept. 29th there will be a reunion at the Elks Lodge in Wichita Falls for those who wish to relive some of the memories of days gone by. The people running it are supermodified based.

The second picture shows where the hole was when it ran as a six cylinder. The car was run as a v-8 super once again and only ran like this for a short while. Over time the fiberglass warped a little yet it still was all there.
