I have some used polished wheels that I want black. The local guys who do annodizing will only annodize new wheels. Do any of you guys have wheels powder coated instead or annodize only and why?

I would imagine that powder coating would be heavier than annodizing.

Keep the polished wheels! IMO black wheels distract from an otherwise very sharp looking car. Just saying.

Some added rotating weight yes. Does that matter to you ? Either powder coat the wheels you have or sell them and buy new black Keizer wheels.

Whenever painting aluminum ALWAYS use self etching primer. It makes all the difference in the final products durability. Also make sure you clean really well before priming and roughing up the surface with a 200 grit paper generally helps too.

I had all of my wheels powder coated flat black. No noticeable difference in weight. Have held up really well, and super easy to clean.

I also have all my wheels powdercoated and even checked the weight on my scales. The difference must be just a few ounces because my scales showed no difference. And the only thing you need to do to keep them looking like new is clean them with ammonia free glass cleaner. The keizer wheel in the picture is powdercoated. Trust me I own a powder coating business
