I have found footage of the 1st NCRA show (I think).
Looks like Leep set fast time, Taylor hits Lies from behind, and Hahn wins in the Budmobile. It's in the film.
Rodgers runs the number 23, Crawford and Layne are in the BTR cars, Black Magic is present as well.
Even looks like the Green version of the Tiajuana Taxi is in there too.
Any more details for me to look for?
Right now I'm busy putting sound to it all, and the entire project is huge, mostly of Ada, Okla racing.

I even got to see my Dad race! He wasn't bad either.
A lot of lives will be touched with this film opening possibly new doorways for the vintage/historical movement here.
Keep breathing and getting up---it just got a lot better! i still have 6 leads out there that I never got around to, can you believe that?!:o

The stuff that memories are made of. I'll start off by mentioning that I was only 6 yrs old at the time, but its surprising the things you can remember from your childhood.
Was Harold in the Ray Cates # 2? Benny Taylor in the Bill Lewis owned, Harden's Kentucky Fried Chicken #13 that rear-ended Frankie Lies? Black Magic as in the black #12 owned by Larry Nailon out of OKC?
The late '60s and early '70s were my formative years and are fondly remembered because of the racing. My dad turned a wrench for a number of people during that time period. We were likely at that race as he was crewing for Bill Lewis on the Benny Taylor car. My mom also worked for Larry Nailon at his printing company.
On a related note, 2 weeks ago, the ASCS sprints were at my local track here in Salina, KS and I was pleasantly surprised to see a young man from Tulsa by the name of Brandon? Hahn racing. Can only guess that he is probably Emmett Hahn's grandson?
Our track doesn't have the best sound system, but I could almost swear that they announced an antique class event coming to our area sometime soon, Not sure if it was supposed to be in Salina, or maybe Wichita at 81 Speedway. C. Ray Hall was at the races that night so I thought that may be why they plugged the upcoming event. Will try to find out for sure and follow up here.
I can't begin to describe how happy I am to find Racing From The Past. So many memories to relive from my childhood.

I will try to answer some of the questions that I know. Harold was in the Ray Cates car, he qualified late and had a bad time and started in the back but won the trophy dash. Benny was is his own car that year and Bill lewis owned the 54 that Jay Woodside set fast time with. EvardHumphry was in the Black Magic. EmmetHahn won the race in Del Torrance's #1 Budmobile that Jackie Howerton drove in 1969. This was Emmet's first big win and he would go to the Zink car later that season when Jackie went to USAC.Emmet won the first NCXRA championship driving for 2 different owners. there were several modifieds in the field,Charlie Wells mad the feature in 007 sedan,he qualified faster than Harold Leep

When the film gets released entirely, on youtube- I truly feel it should be released first right here.
Right now I am under tight restrictions and cannot risk showing it nationwide.
Warren Vincent and Racing From The Past has done so much for the entire scene and what we are about.
I owe this website a homerun, like always

Brian to help out also,,,,,Rays info is real good so i will try to add to it.,,,,in the video when you see the #50 car passing on the outside that is Bill Bookout going on to win the B Main,,,he was the only V8 that could pass all the 6 banners that were up front in the B Main,,the crowd gave Bookout a Standing Ovation CHEER when he took the lead, the track was very dry slick one laned.............Also in the A Main Frankie Lies ran over the front tire on the #13 of Benny Taylor,,, Taylor got pinch and forced to brake then Lies cliped Taylors front tire and went into to the air then spun out. ..There is a picture of this out there showing Lies #55 car with the rear end higher in the air than the front end and the #13 car close behind it...Just one of them racing deals. The photo guy was right there going into turn 3.There were several mixeups going into turn 3 that day and the photo guy was right on it..
Also there were alot of car that droped out of the Race with holes in the Radiators..The rocks were really bad that day like some other days at Tulsa...There were some people hit in the stands by rocks in the hot laps..I got the intire starting line up on paper in Joplin if you need it.The finish should be in the NCRA yearbook.
Win as if you are use to it.And lose as if you enjoyed
it for a change. Its hard to get to the top and alot
harder to stay there.
