NOVEMBER LAS VEGAS MIDGET RACE CANCELLED
USAC, LVMS EXPLORING 2013 OPTIONS

The November 17 USAC Mopar National Midget race at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Bullring has been removed from the 2012 calendar. Track and USAC officials are working together in exploring options for a possible event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2013.

"We are very happy to hear that the Turkey Night Grand Prix has found a home for the 2012 racing season and are excited to see the best dirt midget racers in the country in action at Perris Auto Speedway," said Chris Blair, Las Vegas Motor Speedway Vice President of Racing Operations. "Our original plan was to include the National Midget series as part of our scheduled asphalt event at the Bullring the weekend prior to Turkey Night to give racers more incentive to travel to the Southwest.

"With Turkey Night now being on dirt, the logistics for the teams to bring both a dirt and asphalt car to the area would be a challenge. We are looking forward to working with USAC to possibly bring a National Midget Dirt event to LVMS in 2013 when it can be properly scheduled and promoted as part of a Western Swing."

Las Vegas Motor Speedway's West Coast Asphalt Short Track Championships will continue as scheduled on the 3/8 mile asphalt oval on Saturday, November 17 and will feature the Spears SRL Southwest Tour, Modified Series, USAC Ignite Midget Series and Legends. The Hoosier Tire Late Model Series has been added in place of the National Midgets.

A date at Rt.66 Motorplex would be a cool replacment considering it's a dirt track.

Never ever ignore Cory Kruseman in a midget on dirt. The Turkey Feather for his war bonnet is one he would dearly like to have.

Concerning companion event(s) to the Turkey Night Grand Prix. Please understand that their is so much at stake. To many of us their is no such thing too many races. Over saturation could be a problem. What date a track gets is a make or break deal. The task of just crossing the greater Los Angeles is a problem that we have all experienced. Took me four hours to get from Thousand Oaks to the Oval Nationals one time. That drive on Black Friday may make some people think that they would rather go shopping. Please be patient, we can't ask a promoter to make the sacrifice of a date that is guaranteed to fail. Just thinking out loud.

Hey Victorville on Black Friday would be great since so many of the shoppers going to the Barstow outlets have to pass by the track. The shoppers can drop off the racers at the track, go shopping and then come back and watch the races on the way home. Sounds like a great idea to me. I can't wait to see Turkey Night back at home (meaning dirt) and a two day show would be so awesome to see. I'm wondering if they will be running the Focus and the Sprints as well as the Midgets on Turkey Night like they have in the past at Irwindale? Does anyone know or has anyone heard? That would be awesome!
RIP Chet and Mark. You might be gone but never will
be forgotten.
