He was one of my heroes when I was growing up. He started racing SCCA road races in a hot rod (I seem to remember it was a 40 Ford). When I went to Indy in the 70's I remember seeing his crew's motor home that they had driven from the west coast. It was a mobile home they had grafted an Eldorado front end onto. Jerry was a great, if unlucky driver.
