Hypothetical question: If there was to be a Oklahoma Dirt Track Hall of Fame built, what five would be your first inductees?
Include at least one car owner amongst those five and you can include promoters as well.
They may not necessarily be from Oklahoma but made a huge impact on the state of dirt track racing. And this is not limited to just open wheel. Anything dirt track roundy round.

I appreciate the sentiment, but lets stick to the ones over 30 at this point.

Funny how sometimes on these polls u ask specific questions like which FIVE and yet some people list 8. It;s like, man did you even read the question or do you just wanna make ur own post.
1. Bud Carson
2. Jack Claxton
3. Jennings Family ( can't just say 3 or 4 )
4. Emmett Hahn
5. Dutch

By the way, that is a fun poke at myself because I wasn't gonna list just five with the whole Jennings clan qualifying in my opinion.

While every hall of fame I have ever been around elicited some kind of heartache and/or dispute over who should be inducted and who shouldn't, I'd love to see a racing hall of fame in Oklahoma. The heritage is so rich, and yet with the closing of iconic tracks like Oklahoma City and Tulsa, the ability to preserve that history has been gravely threatened.

Not at all man. I am in total debt to you for posting so many kick ass videos. You have allowed so many of us to relive a lot of cool memories. I wasn't calling you out by any means. Keep the videos comin'!! Great Job!

I look at this challenge to mean the "inaugural" class. To get in on the first ballot, you've got to be the best of the best of the best. To get in on the first ballot, you need to have transcended the single stage of one track, one class of cars or one racing series. Here's my list:
5 tie. Buddy Cagle - Many time track champion, multi-disciplined driver competing and winning in modifieds, supers, midgets, sprints, with cage and without.
5 tie. Shane Carson - Won many races without focusing on a championship in Oklahoma (Knoxville isn't too bad though), WoO, NCRA, then a second career as promoter.
4. Jack Walker - OKC transplant from Wichita, Jack's chassis was the benchmark of open wheel cars from the late 60's until the late 70's
3. Bud Carson - Promoter extrordinare. Made the transistion from promoting drag racing to dirt at Taft Stadium, OKC Fairgrounds (twice), Enid
2. Harold Leep - Not an Oklahoman by birth, but won everywhere he raced and in all eras that he raced, 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's, then he came back to restore racing to Muskogee.
1. Jack Zink - Formidable driver on his own, he is the reason that Jackie Howerton and Emmett Hahn belong on the second ballot. He fielded the finest open wheel cars from midgets to local supers to sprint cars and Indy. HE WON INDY for goodness sake!
I know, I cheated and took the easy way out by "creating" a tie for 5th so I could name 6 instead of just 5, but that's my list.
