Watch what is going on in the sprint car pits. Or hit the rest rooms and concession stand. Anything to avoid having to watch the junk races.

Both of you are reasons no dirt track in this country could survive.

Saturday night at LA Raceway. ASCS 360s, local 305s, and WAR sprints. An all sprint car show at a racy, clean, friendly, local country track for only $15. Awesome!!

Been a die hard supporter of Knoxville Raceway for years. I like sprints, midgets and silver crown cars on dirt. I don't care for hobby stock, b mods, compact 4 cly etc. I never complain about the ticket price for an all sprint or midget show. I have driven 9 hours to see an all sprint show. I don't understand why a promoter would think a sprint car crowd would enjoy watching his 4 regular divisions of 60 MPH or less fender cars. Bottom line is they are added to the card to pad the back gate. And you notice I did not say I would not GO to a race that had 1 fender support class if it looked like the sprint car show was going to be good. I just said I don't watch them. It benefits the track if I buy a ticket then spend money at the concession stand while the bomber class is on the track.

I hope you won't mind if I print this out and tape it to my forehead this weekend. Except for the Knoxville part. I can only dream about that.

The snooze cruisers aka taxi cabs afford a great opportunity to sneak out to the parking lot or campsite and slug some brews. Maybe enjoy a puff of smoke with some friends and then when we hear the open wheel cars pushing off go back in. Those little skinny sedan tires can work wonders for grading a crusty surface, beats watching a grader roll around.
Cheers!

Absolutely the best post on this topic. Who cares to watch, unless you are family or friends? As long as you pay for your front gate ticket, and the pits are full of back gate, what difference does it make if you watch that crap or not? Absolutely no difference in the world. They still get paid the same, they will still race their boring, slow race etc......

Both of you are reasons no dirt track in this country could survive. That makes almost no sense at all. I am there, aren't I? I didn't stay home to watch Nascar. I just choose not to watch or pay attention to these races. Dumbest post on this topic........JMO

Bring a pillow and a blanket. I would rather eat nails than sit through endless yellow flag after yellow flag.

Last Friday night at Rapid Speedway, when the B features for the B-mods and Hobby Stocks were done it was already ~ 10pm.

Looking into the infield at 75 support class cars I looked at my wife and asked if she wanted to go home which is a 20 min drive. She looked back at me and said "don't you want to see the 410 feature?".

My reply was that there was plenty of time for me to bring her home and return to the track in time to see the only race on the ticket that I wanted to see.

Around 11:30pm she was regretting staying. Checkered flag dropped a bit after 12AM, got home just before 12:30am.

It's gonna be hard for me to ever attend another show with more than 2 support classes.

BTW ---- If it is wingless, has less than 360 cu in or burns gas it is a support class.

The support classes at Eldora are always entertaining and good racing! Plus they usually only have one support class, Emods one night and the stocks the next. Sure I might hit the t-shirt trailers when they start, but I always end up watching some of the support class races. I grew up on late models, sportsman, and hobby stocks during the weekly shows.

Some of you must have started watching races at Kville with sprints only.

Spoiled dam kids anyway.

If you put any wingless racing in the same class as street stocks etc., you are pretty dumb. Wingless can make even the slowest sprint cars into good racing.

Hardly.

First time I went to K-ville I was 16.

By that time I had been to 100's of races. Almost all of them having multiple classes of door bangers.

they paid to get in, they are using the concession stand and the souvenier stand, and intend to stay until their preferred class runs instead of going elsewhere. how are they not supporting the track? stockers suk and you're an idiot.

I do enjoy some of the stock car races. Often they are better races than a single file 1 groove sprint car race. As a sprint car driver and team owner I appreciate all the family, friends, supporters, crew, buddies, fans, and sponsors these small teams bring to our regional tracks. These support classes bring people to the grandstands. When the stands are full, the atmosphere is more entertaining. I try to watch to see who the fast guys are, where they ran, etc. Find them in the pits and ask them if they gonna dump water on it after the heats? Will Joe Blow the grader driver decide to go out before the feature.... I usually only read these posts...sometimes it better to just think thoughts than to voice them out loud. There are a lot of stock car racers that read these posts. Maybe they are sprint car fans to. We have gentleman at our local track; he drives a street stock- and owns 2 VERY impressive sprint car teams with hired drivers.... Think positive.... our local dirt tracks need encouragement. Thanks you- to the push truck drivers, their crews, concession workers, even the safety crew, flag guys, family and friends- not everyone forgets all you do and bring to our local tracks across the nation. Oh ya, and thanks to our "taxi" stock car drivers (their kids run the concession stands at some tracks...) Kyle Bates

They may not be as exciting as the main class of sprint cars you came to watch, but like you said, these guys have busted their asses all week and have probably taken out a loan or two to get to the track. It isn't as exciting to watch, but you can't dog the guys. I am sure they would be running sprint cars if they could.

I feel I should not be charged full price to sit through Shitboxes. I paid to watch sprints. I feel the Shitboxes should not leave till after the sprints because we had to sit through their circus. I know its a back gate reason why Shitboxes are there but run them last.
