I was reading over some posts from 2008 on "Racing from the Past" and saw where Warren said he grew up at Hoisington, Kansas. There was a jalopy #33 that was owned by Bob Parks of Hoisington, Kansas back in 1956 and was some time driven by someone named Jeff Davis. Someone named Kenny Steadman (or Stedman) also drove that car some. Kenny is a rather elusive individual as he gave a different hometown every time I've found him listed in old race results. From time to time, Kenny said he was from Beaver, Sterling, Great Bend, and
Ellinwood all in Kansas. Does anyone know anything about Bob Parks, Jeff Davis, Kenny Steadman, or anything about their jalopies?

There was also a Bill "Bud" Stout from Hoisington who owned a car #77. His drivers included Max Malone from Dodge City. Max Malone also drove cars #18 and #90 at Larned.

In his same posting, Warren mentioned the racetrack at Larned. It was located on the west side of the airport north of Larned. It was called JayCee Speedway and only operated from 1956 through 1959. Among the cars that raced there the two cars from Hoisington that I asked about here.

I've started a web site about the JayCee Speedway at Larned and about the cars and people who raced there. You can find that at http://kansasracinghistory.com/tripod/Larned/Larned_Speedway.htm

Some others who raced at Larned that I'm trying to learn more about are:

#69 Bill Warren

#70 Harold Mansky

Wayne Bilderdine (or maybe Bildine or something else similar), may have been from Great Bend as he drove cars #84 and #81 that were from Great Bend. The #81 was owned by Marvin Clawson.

Jim Schremmer who drove a #56 that was probably owned by Homer Hickman from Great
Bend.

Bob Wright who also drove for Homer Hickman.

The Suchy brothers (Al, Vernon, Bernard, and Fred) all were drivers from Great Bend.

Clem Celzar

#47 Jim Maskus from Dodge City.

#77 Glenn Warren from Hutchinson.

#67 Marvin Wright from Beaver, Kansas. Others also drove this car and I'm interested in learning about anyone who did.

#65 Orville Miller from Larned. Someone named Orrison Rice also drove that car. This wasn't the #65 that Henry Ellilngton owned at that time though.

#37 Paul Befort from Garden City.

#49 Jerry Collins from Hutchinson.

#78 Red Siems from Hutchinson.

#44 Paul Grumbine from LaCrosse, Kansas and later from Ness City, Kansas

#72 Harry Weible from Larned.

#86 Lloyd White from Larned.

Thanks.

Bob Lawrence

Some of those guys worked in the oilfield and did move quite a bit from town to town. I don't remember saying I was from Hoisington. Hutchinson maybe but not Hoisington. MikeE is on here and was from Hoisington. I bet he will put his two cents in. There is a couple others that will probably not something. There probably asking relatives as I'm typing, LOL. Somebody needs to work on getting the collection from the Pedigo's. I have heard it is big.
