The Big Three: Sprintcar Grand Final - Late Model Grand National - Bendy 500
The sound of thunder is fast approaching as Tyrepower Sydney Speedway gears up for one of the big meetings on the season schedule. It’s a three star show that caters for just about any taste.
We start off with the Grand Final of the Sydney Sprintcar Track Championship where more than forty cars are expected to chase the final chance to score vital points. Ian Loudoun has wrapped up the Track pointscore with Grant Tunks virtually having second in the bag but that is where the certainty ends.
Nominations have been bolstered by American Shane Stewart who returns to try and repeat his win in the recent Scott Darley $50,000 Challenge. Stewart who will be steering the Monster Energy backed; Luch Monte owned J&J would love nothing more than to grab a win from the local hot-shots.
Another confirmed nomination is ex-V8 Supercar driver, Paul Morris. Paul has raced at Sydney Speedway previously to reasonable results and no doubt would love to improve on this visit.
Add to the mix, Robbie Farr and forty locals and there is a recipe that is the envy of everyone!
The annual Late Model Sedan Grand National is locked and loaded with a field to salivate over. More than twenty cars are expected, led by three West Aussies who know how to steer a Late Model.
Craig Vosbergen, Warren and Jamie Oldfield lead the charge from the West. Jamie Oldfield came within a whisker of claiming the Australian Late Model Championship held here in late January. Warren finished seventh the title final and Vosbergen, although not a regular visitor to Tyrepower Sydney Speedway, will be well and truly on the pace from the outset.
Sydney stars, Daryl Grimson, Nathan Disney and Adam Brook will provide some stiff opposition for the travellers, so expect one hell of a dog fight.
Finally, the Fender Benders return to their former glory with the running of the Bendy 500. It has been many years since the race, which has been compared to the famous Daytona 500, has been run and with a nomination list topping thirty-one cars, just making the A-Main will be an effort. Two heats will be run with the top twelve in each making the 20 lap final, and then the fun begins.
Each driver will crash and bash their way to glory and the first place prize.
Also this Saturday night, there will be FREE Monster Truck Rides for the kids. Each child will receive a ticket on entry which will entitle them to a free ride in Bearfoot.
The Sprintcar Track Championship Grand Final, the Late Model Sedan Grand National, the Bendy 500 and FREE Monster Truck Rides…. A great night out for everyone.
