I spoke with my friend Pam in Florida and heres an update on Jason Sides. Jason was approached by Brian Carter with Brian saying we need to work this out and make this thing go away. Jason eagerly agrees with Brian. The conversation takes a turn and Brian shortly leaves with nothing being setteled. So next day Jason arrives at track and before long Brian Carter and Carlton Reimers show up with papers in hand, Jason is excited that this is finally going to get settled and he is gonna get paid his money and be able to run the 2012 woo tour. Man was he really bummed out when he found out, all they had in hand was a tax papers, a deposit money paper, and a 2012 contract. Brian Carter suggests that they all can remain friends through the lawsuit, Jason will be considered gold status for 5 races and the lawsuit will takes it's course. Jason refuses to sign 2012 contract and the guys leave. Later on in the night several WRG employess stop by to say they were glad he was on board and things were settled. In NO way have things been settled and Jason and Sides Motorsports are not on board for the 2012 tour. This must of been rumoured by Carter to make him look better in some peoples eyes. Jason is going to be a true outlaw and do what he wants, race where he wants and not do or go any place he doesn't want to go. Jason is running 360 nationals at Eastbay this weekend. So keep supporting Jason and Sides Motorsports because WRG/WOO still has not done the right thing! There is a court date in August, right after the nationals!

Random pleas here on the message board fuel drama and emotion, but do little towards actually solving the problem...

Most people enjoy routing for the underdog, but to be fair, we've only heard Jason's side of the story via a flury of poorly executed hosehead announcements.

I also think it's fair to say that Jason is probably slightly unorganized. His fly by the seat of his pants reputation is something that many of us admire, but has probably injured his law suit efforts.

Sigh... this is a no win situation. Neither the Outlaws or Sides will benefit. I wish the whole issue would quietly go away, along with these silly pleas for support!

WRG is the only ones that can fix this or make it go away. This suit will continue to bring them bad press and I imagine that many of the full time outlaws are rooting for Jason but have to stay quiet.

Bad situation for all involved!

I really dont think this concerns you or have anything to do with you,if this is true,I am sure Jason Sides would do a press release to let people know, IF he wanted them to know.

This post in completely on the money. I am not much of a WRG fan, but I support them wholeheartedly here. When the Outlaw drivers sign their contract, they know what the deal is with the Outlaws. Ignoring the contract provisions, then whining that the Outlaws screwed him for doing so seems weak.

The silly pleas for support just would hold a lot more water if Sides had not crawled right back to the Outlaws and ran with them already this year. If he really feels like he was screwed, the take some kind of stand and don't support WRG.

Singlefile: How is running with the Outlaws & doing your best to take some $$$ from them in the process "crawling back" to them? Just seems to me to be a driver wanting to race where the money is at that time, what a shock that is.

Well, if I felt I got screwed out of money I was owed, I sure as hell wouldn't crawl back and support an employer or organization that I felt screwed me out of $40K.

I agree. I wouldn't run anywhere the Outlaws were. I'd go make my money elsewhere. Tour with the All Stars, or Run in PA.

I like watching the outlaws, but honestly, if it has a wing on top, and im seeing slide jobs and jumping out of my seat, who cares what series or track it is. I just wanna see racing. So as far as the WRG goes, screw'em. I do agree that both sides of the story need to be told. I don't think anybody knows the honest truth, except for the WRG and Sides

I agree 100%. They are the only ones who can make this go away. The way this would shake out in court means nothing to most of us. No one can argue that Jason will likely not get what he wants in court. But to me, this is a ticky-tack penalty that was imposed on him and it will be very damaging if they don't immediately try to come to some sort of agreement so they can move forward on a contract for 2012. Jason is a very popular driver and this would have a negative impact on them, especially after the announcement from Meyers this year. They can't afford to have the talent pool drained any more than it already is.

It's a "ticky tack" penalty? It sure didn't seem like Sides had any problem with accepting the tow money that WRG was giving him for signing the contract with the Outlaws. Everyone knows what the the deal is with the Outlaws. I don't get this argument that drivers should be allowed to sign a contract, collect tow money, then just ignore the specifications of running with the Outlaws. If a team is going to do that, then don't bitch and whine about it when WRG cuts you off for ignoring the exclusivity clause in the contract.

Does anyone have a copy of the 2011 contract Jason signed? One that can be posted here for everyone to see?

I think if his signature is on the contract and he did not abide by what was on the contract, then he is going to be out of luck in the end. Phone call or no phone call.

I don't think he should be racing with the outlaws at this time. Not good for his defense, kinda looking like he wants his cake and eat it too.

Question for everyone

If you were suing your employer, would you continue working for them until your case was heard in court?

It's just answers and NOT an attempt to enter a pissing contest! :-)

Yes. - Of course not now.

You don't know this but I see you think it's this way.. Can't blame you for that because you really don't know the facts... :-)

The defense has nothing to do with this.

The questiom is, would you? Now assume for fact that there is only 2 or 3 places you could work and they are all 300 to 2000 miles away, this is your occupation and you have no other source of income... I believe I already know the real answer..

I know most everyone does not give a rat's rear end about most of this... WRG officials have (and probably still do) lurk here. They've had every opportunity to "post" their side.

Also keep in mind that NONE of the post here (or anywhere else for that matter) have come from Sides..

It's a volatile issue that gets discussed on a discussion board!

I don't want to see Jason Sides' Outlaw contract anymore than people want to see my cell phone or satellite contracts. 20 years ago before the internet we'd have showed up at the first race and been wondering where Jason was. There's something to be said for the pre internet days.
