It's actually the 24 Hours of Lemons and it's a blast. There is a competing series Chumpcar World Series as well. I have a car (soon to be 2) and we ran last weekend at the Fontana Speedway. Driver lineup included a couple people you may of heard of - Cory Kruseman and Harlan Willis in my car and JJ Ercse in the Gurney Fleagle MR2 powered by a Kawasaki 1400. The rules are similar enough that the same cars can run in both series but the philosophy is different. In Chump, they expect that you will get off course or have incidental contact and you can get by with a little. They also do not put as much of an emphasis on themes or nutty engineering. In Lemons, it's zero tolerance for going off course or making contact but the penalties are pretty funny. Miss a black flag? Expect to be handed a sharpie and forced to write "I will not ignore the black flag" 500 times on your car while the races are going on. Go off course?, don't be surprised if you are handed a mime outfit with whiteface that you have to put on and perform the "Mime your crime" penalty. 2 guys bang into each other? Expect to park each car on either side of a handball type wall and handed a bunch of water balloons and start playing "Battleship" First guy to sink the other guys "Battleship" gets to re-enter the race. Not many of the races are true 24 hour races (thank god). It's a lot of work and tiring. We ran the Reno 24 earlier this year and I remember coming into the pits in the middle of the night and it was abandoned. I had to unbuckle, go into the motorhome and grab someone "Dude, it's your turn to drive" Our next race is at Buttonwillow the first weekend in December. Here's some pics from last year's Buttonwillow race

My favs were the "My Little Pony" Mustang and the ""Phoney Express" LTD which shot ding dongs out the backside of the horse.
Here's a YouTube video from the Infineon race earlier this year that kind of sums up the whole Lemons experience
