HOOSIER TIRE MIDWEST SPRINTERS RETURN TO HAUBSTADT

Haubstadt, IN - May 24, 2007. Tri-State Speedway will host the Midwest Sprint Car Series over the Memorial Day weekend. The scheduled Sunday evening appearance on May 27th will be highlighted by a 30 lap feature paying $3,000 to win and $200 to start. Memorial Day weekend celebrations in the Hoosier state have become synonymous with great open wheel racing. This is especially true at Tri-State Speedway where the UMP Modifieds will also be on the race card to
compound the excitement.

For the Midwest Sprint Car drivers it will be race 3 of a 14 race 2007 season. In the two races so far there have been two different winners. Mat Neely, Robinson, IL, won at the first race at Haubstadt with Kyle Cummins, Princeton, IN, driving to victory two weeks later at Madisonville. KY. Both left the respective tracks then as the MSCS Points leader heading into the next event. Kyle Cummins sits atop the standings now. Cummins has been there once before. He was tied with perennial champion Alex Shanks heading into the final at Lawrenceburg last fall. Shanks is now tied with veteran Jerry Ruble for fourth. Bobby Stines and Kevin Briscoe rank second and third in the standings.

Fifty different drivers have competed with MSCS in the two races so far this month. The holiday weekend promises to bring additional new faces. Some will be veterans eyeing the $3,000 to win. Others will be newcomers looking to test the field.

Leading the Engler Machine & Tool Rookie of the Year Rookie standings is John Memmer of Evansville, In. Memmer took over the lead at Western Kentucky Speedway last weekend with his first top five MSCS performance ever. He gained enough spots in the feature run to be named the MSCS Hard Charger of the Race for Keizer Aluminum Wheels. John is now sixth in the overall standings with the Louisville Tile, Daltile Memmer Motorsports Sprinter. The rookie race within the overall points race is shaping up to be a real scramble and one worth watching.

The strong competition expected this weekend is bound to affect both the overall National and Rookie point chases. Last year's Memorial Day weekend feature race was a battle of dirt track stars. Brandon Petty finished ahead of Mat Neely, Kevin Briscoe, Daron Clayton, and Dave Darland.

Early arrivals can watch hot laps at 6:30 P.M. Actual racing gets underway at 7:30 with the sprint car heats and feature first on the program before and after intermission. Race teams are reminded to arrive early to secure preferred pit spots. It'll be dirt track racing at MSCS's best.
