My name is Dusty Lawson and I am part of Lawson Racing, a 2 car sprint car team in Minot, ND. There have been a few posts on here and also national media coverage about what is happening in our town right now. There is major flooding occuring right now in our town, causing the evacuation of some 11,000 people and flooding somehwere around 4,000 homes. Also in the flood is our home racetrack of Nodak Speedway. A lot of the dirt for our track was used to make a dike around the new grandstand that was built last year, so racing has been postponed for now and possibly for the rest of the season. That is very disappointing as we have some very dedicated drivers, pit crews, and fans that racing is a major part of the summer, and for most, like ourselves, our lives. There is one fan in particular that has been affected by this flood in a very negative way. His name is Mason and he suffer's from Autism and Asperger's, but his really focuses on racing. Over the years, he has collected racing hero cards from drivers and other racing memorbilia. His whole collection was lost to the floodwaters and he is having a tough time with the loss. Everyone involved with the Nodak Speedway is getting together new cards and memorbilia for him so he can start a new collection. I would like to pass this along to any and all drivers that might like to send him a hero card or maybe even a t shirt (he wears a medium). If you would like to send anything to Mason, you can contact me and I can give you my address and I will collect anything that comes in and then pass it on to him. Thanks everyone!!!

I'm not sure if he has a favorite driver. I think he is just a fan of all racing and racers.

The outpouring of support for Mason has been nothing short of amazing. A big thank you goes out to everyone that has donated so far. There is still time if you would like to send a racer card or any other racing memorbilia to Mason. E-mail me at [email protected] and I will get you my address to send it to. Thanks.

re bump, keep this on front page until at least Nationals.
Keep in mind most Autism kids/adults/old like a focus on a normal routine. A flood, a lose of all things, has to be a huge blow. They want regular times, regular places to go and regular meals.
An Autistic race fan is more loyal to a track than even the promoter/owner. They routine to be at the track. They would sit and watch a race in 10 degree weather, if a race was happening. They are the best fans!!! by 400%

You are 1000% correct. My nephew David has Aspergers (I am sure that is not spelled correctly) and he is fixated on video games. At 28 years old he can not pull himself away. If he lost them he would be lost. They are like a long lost love for him and he seems to pine over them when he can not play them. The doctors tell my Brother in Law that it is a huge part of the condition and it probably will be getting worse as opposed to better. David has absolutely NO social skills and will probably have to be taken care of for the rest of his life. It is really sad. Although I do not know Mason, if he has any of the traits that David is going through he is probably absolutely besides himself at having lost his collection. So we need to keep this at the top, until we are told that it can go away.

i would like to give thanks to all the norcal racers that donated to mason eisenzimmer, he`s a kid from Minot North Dakota, a town that has suffered from a huge flood that has left many without homes, and destroyed many personal belonging`s! mason suffers from autism, and aspergers, and is apparently one of the towns biggest race fans, he had a huge racing collection, all lost in the flood, dusty lawson,of lawson racing, put the word out that the local racers were trying to build masons collection back up, thats where our norcal racers stepped up, chico, cival war, king of the west racers, all donated hero cards, shirts posters, stickers, etc, just goes to show ya, racers are good people, and are always willing to give back, thanks again norcal racers! we have big box to send back, we still have donations coming in,i will be sending out the box early next week, so if you`d like to donate, you can drop off at the shop, Jp`s Paint & Body Works, thanks again!

The response from the racing community has been nothing short of amazing!! I have gotten responses from not only across the country, but from as far away as Australia. It sounds like Nodak Speedway is going to try and resume their season August 13th. I am thinking we may setup a presentation for Mason that night. We are going to try and get local newspaper coverage of the event. Thanks again everyone!!
