A friend of mine's dad is restoring the Farmer's Offy. It was a white #33 driven by Dick Knau of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. It raced in Iowa and Illinois in the late 40's and early 50's.
It ran an Allis Chalmers WD tractor motor, hence the name Farmer's Offy. If anyone knows any history of this car or has any pictures, I would appreciate hearing from you and will put you in touch with the man restoring the car.

I'd love to see some pictures of the restoration! This was before my time by a couple of years, but can not imagine a WD motor in a race car. I've driven a WD and it certainly wasn't fast. Yes, I know, most of that is gearing, but don't remember that it seemed to run at very high revs, either. I'll bet he didn't have to refresh that motor every dozen races!

My uncle Dick was the driver of the 33. I would love to to get more infomation (names & numbers) and the current status of the retoration. Unless your speaking of a replica that's been shown at Old Threshers. I appreciate any further information you can provide. Thanks in advance!

I am not sure what would have been available to do in those days and you would not have needed as much power to compete then as now but, seven or eight years ago I was doing some machine work for a guy who built engines for tractor pullers. He was taking one hundred hp Case and International engines and getting five to six hundred horses out of them. I would machine a set of new pistons this week and if they got beat by few feet they would have another new set to try something else for next week.

Contact Bob Mays at Speedway Motors in Lincoln, Nebraska. He has both photos and the history of the car.

I gave them a call this morning.....They couldn't find a Bob Hayes that works there. I also asked for their "historian" or someone familiar with sprint car history, and still no luck.
I tried the ole google machine and found only 49 Bob Hayes in Lincoln.
Any chance you have other info that could help me narrow my search?

So is there a response to the posted link to another forum and someone is claiming that this is actually a purely "replica" car being built and has not one part from the original, but is being billed as a restoration of the original?
It does appear that the original poster is selling this as a "restoration" of the original, not a replica build. So what is it?
