NEW POINT LEADER AS CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS GO TO BAKERSFIELD!

(Placentia, CA, April 27, 2011) The California Lightning Sprint Car Series will have a new point leader when it makes its first 2011 appearance at the Bakersfield Speedway this Saturday night, April 30th. Veteran driver Tim Brown of Wildomar, California, is the new man at the top of the heap. Spectator gates will open at 4:30 PM at Bakersfield and the first race will begin at 6:00. The Late Models, Mini Stocks and the Youth Racing Series will join the CLS on the "West's Fastest 1/3 of a Mile High Banked Clay Oval."

Brown, 51, has had a fantastic start to the 2011 campaign. He finished second at the CLS first two races at Perris Auto Speedway and was fourth in the main two weeks ago at Ventura. Heading into round #4 of the 2011 CLS championship chase at Bakersfield, Brown has a comfortable 59-point lead over Placentia's Dan Hillberg in the standings. At Ventura, Hillberg, a veteran of over 30-years of open wheel racing, won his second ever CLS main event.

Teenage star Kevin Michnowicz, who won the first two races of the year at Perris Auto Speedway, crashed in his heat race at Ventura and missed the main event. That leaves the former point leader third in the standings some 80 points behind Brown. Fellow teenagers Alexander Bissett of Hemet and Carlsbad's Jacob Will round out the top five. Bissett is only 5 five points behind Michnowicz with Will just 7 in back of Bissett.

After this Saturday's race the CLS will be back in action on May 14th at the Santa Maria Speedway and May 28th at Perris Auto Speedway.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to welcome three new corporate sponsors for the 2011 season. Electro Tech Powder Coating, Saldana Racing Products and DJ Safety. They join Performance by Rosson Racing, DK Machine and Fabrication, Sander Engineering, Elliott's Powder Coating, Circle Track Performance, Hoosier Tires, Racing Optics and the Christian Stover Foundation. If you or your company would like to become part of the California Lightning Series for the 2011 season, please call Dan Hillberg at: (714) 719-0295
