I received this e-mail: This is the rest of the story. I'm sure some of you viewers remember Stan and may have a good story to tell so a daughter can fill in the gaps. That is what this site has done for over 10 years. We have reunited friends that haven't seen each other in 30 years. Stans name came in several threads and this is one of them. http://www.hoseheadforums.com/forum.cfm?pageNum_qGetThread=1&ThreadID=9606

Hi, my name is Jana Borofsky, my father was Stanley Borofsky I'm wondering if u have any information for contacts that would have pictures, videos, or any other memorabilia from my dad's time in
racing, I'm especially interested in the wreck in IA he never raced after that
from what I remember I was only like 4 or 5. He disappeared in 1977 never to be
found, my mother died in 1984 when i was 15 and still too young to really ask
many questions or request the above mentioned things from her so any help you
have would be great.

Sincerely,

Jana Marie Borofsky

A small breakthrough

I have the phone number of a man who shared a garage with Stan back in the 60's.

I will email that number to Warren and also Stans daughter.

Not real sure that Stan hated " the Mad Russian" as he had it on his cars and signed autographs using it.

I remember him flipping down the front stretch at the Nationals in the 70s, but I do not remember the year. I thought maybe his car was brown and white that year?

I have a couple of things that I remember from the sixties. The first was that there was a weatherman in KC thats last name was also Borofsky. He was always telling people that he was not the race car driver. It seems to me that they did meet and the weatherman may have drove the supermodified a lap or two. The other I think I am right was that Stan had flipped over the wall at Riverside and landed on a highway sign. When he brought the car out after repairing it, the tin top had the highway sign painted in reverse on it. The latest that this could have been would have been is 1965. One can also go to your local libary ans use the microfilm section with the newspapers, but that is very time consuming. Kansas City had at least three major papers that early and three main race tracks then. There were also several more around the area making the hunt long. I have gathered info on my families racing and there is still missing pieces that pop up here and there from out of know nowhere. There is a web site out there that one can use that lists almost everyone in united states that has or may have had a phone in the last several years. I have found several people that I lost contact with years ago. Some of the information may be old and some may also be off or wrong. The site is http://www.spokeo.com How many more sites out there does the general public not know of. Good luck

The TV weatherman was Fred Broski, he was also the track announcer for Olympic, and Riverside stadiums in the 60's.

1974 Knoxville

This car that Stan drove was built by Luther Brewer, and is featured under The Racing From

The Past heading about Luther. The car was sold by the 1976 season, and was driven by Doug

Hjermstad at Belleville when the lap belt broke during a flip in the last BCRA non wing

Sprint Car race there, killing the Dakota driver. The car was sold to a Minnesota man who restored

Stan's car to the way it looked when he drove it. I believe I have picture of it from the KAR

Vintage meet at Belleville in 2010. I will try to find it for you.
