Paul McMahan sets it at 12.569 just a tic under 144 mph average speed.

I don't know that track personally, but I'd sure like to hear from the people that do... Is that a true 1/2 mile?

When the track was asphalt the NASCAR Busch series raced there. The results show the track length as ".500". NASCAR is usually pretty specific when it comes to listing track lengths.

I measured it via Google Earth.
Per Google Earth, it is .43 miles. Based on the smaller size, the speed would be 123.16. Maybe someone can verify my math.
Still a very fast lap!

Here are some interesting comparisons. Track lengths were measured using Google Earth's ruler.
- Bristol Motor Speedway
- .53 miles @ 13.7??, or 139.27 (average MPH)
- Can someone supply the actual track record?
- Belleville High Banks
- .51 miles @ 14.321, or 128.20 (average MPH)
- Knoxville Raceway
- .50 miles @ 14.407, or 124.94 (average MPH)
- Volousia Raceway Park
- .43 miles @ 12.569, or 123.16 (average MPH)
- Eldora Speedway
- .43 miles @ 12.707, or 121.94 (average MPH)
- Williams Grove
- .53 miles @ 16.140, or 118.22 (average MPH)

Belleville is .51 miles.
BTW, I'm trying to measure the racing groove (the middle of the track).
Mark, I added Belleville to my track list. See post above. The "High Banks" track record was set by your buddy T-Mac!
Does anyone know what the WoO Bristol Motor Speedway track record is?

Pennzoil
World of Outlaws driver Sammy Swindell tested at the track and posted a
time of 13.60 seconds, a second-and-a-half quicker than Steve Park's
Winston Cup track record.

I have a really hard time with the High Banks being about the same size as Knoxville.....I know the lights are not very good at Belliville but I cant read the numbers of the cars going down the back straight---the place is huge.

Anything less than 2,640 lineal feet measured around the inside of the track, is not a half mile. Knoxville is a true half mile track.

I got the same for every track, except Knoxville. There's an area between the inside wall and inside burm that isn't track, and only the dark dirt on the image is track. You might have measred the very inside of the track, as running a normal time trial groove, I got .52 miles.

That's because it's very round, the straightaways at Knoxville are longer, but at Belleville the track is so circular, that the back-stretch is farther away from the front stretch.

I'm great with numbers, but not google earth...can someone check Selinsgrove and Port? Both are notorious for being faster then Williams Grove, and I believe they measure .54 and .51 (based off measurements I've seen).

I know Jason Blonde ran the fastest ever lap at Bristol with a pavement sprinter. Don't know what the time was.

I added some tracks to my list, see updates below. Keep in mind, the track lengths were measured via Google Earth's ruler. I tried to measure the "groove", not the inside or outside rail.
- Bristol Motor Speedway
- .53 miles @ 13.860, or 137.66 (average MPH)
- Belleville High Banks
- .51 miles @ 14.321, or 128.20 (average MPH)
- Knoxville Raceway
- .50 miles @ 14.407, or 124.94 (average MPH)
- Volousia Raceway Park
- .43 miles @ 12.569, or 123.16 (average MPH)
- Eldora Speedway
- .43 miles @ 12.707, or 121.94 (average MPH)
- Selinsgrove Speedway
- .54 miles @ 16.207, or 119.95 (average MPH)
- Williams Grove
- .53 miles @ 16.140, or 118.22 (average MPH)
- Perris Auto Speedway
- .37 miles @ 13.875, or 096.00 (average MPH)
This is an interesting list, especially when you compare the list to all the "folklore", that's out there about these tracks.
For example, when you use real measurements to compare these tracks, the Eldora Speedway doesn't seem so "badass" after all.
The PAS numbers are down right embarrassing. They advertise that track as a "half mile", yet it isn't even a true 3/8.
