I thought by now the haters would have all kind of reasons that the Swindell's went 1-2 Sat.nite, waiting to see.

Unless I missed something he didn't bare his ass this year. He won the race AND didn't have / take the opportunity to be a jerk. Who could have an issue with that?

It's all good. Sammy did not win. He came in second which is the first loser.

As much as I dislike Sammy, there is not reason to dislike his son. You can't pick your family.

Anyone but Sammy.

Hell, I think you'll find that there are a lot of us out there who don't "hate" the Swindells, but we'd rather not see them win.....yet we still respect them for their on track performances....so they finished 1-2....we still had a great time in Tulsa! Just my thoughts as to your comment. "Hate" is a pretty strong word to use. Usually there is quite a bit of respect in the Open Wheel culture, right?

Sammy has won alot of people over the last couple years. Last year especially due to running a true outlaw schedule. People that don't like McCarl got a huge kick out of Sammy subing, out performing, and taking the ride from him, so he gained a lot of fans there. After the run at Nationals when 25,000 people chant your name and you didn't win, you've put on one hell of a show my friend. For him to handle it with that much grace and showmanship made everyone take another look. Sammy has shown his ass a few times over the years but getting near the end of his career I think people know what he has done for our sport.

As for Sammy, they either love him or hate him but they all come to see him race.

Unfortunately I didn't get to go this year, but last year I was sitting next to a couple and as Sammy was working his way up from last every time he would pass cars they would flip him the finger. I ask them why, the excuse was they hated him, they wouldn't give me a reason. The guy sitting on the other side of me couldn't believe they were acting that way and I have to agree, when these guys go out and entertain us and take the risk they take how can you "hate" any one of them. As far as Sammy goes its hard to ignore what this man has done in this sport, you may not like is "personality" but his command of a race car is one of the best ever. The day that I become Sammy's best friend I will worry about his attitude to people until then I will enjoy his ability to be one of the best.

What's new? For instance, a lot of people didn't have a good word about Foyt until he retired.

Sammy is a great driver and a legend. I can't see anyone denying that. For some reason he has a terrible temper, even at his age and he can't control it. Anyone hear of his fit after the B main in Las Vegas just a few months ago? Flew through the pits at a high rate of speed and track officials wanted him kicked out for the 2nd day and ASCS saved him. He will run someone over and then we will see how many of you think he is a God. Actions like this are why some folks don't like him, not his driving. JMO

He won the Westen World at Manzy! I was there, and it was one hell of a race. Trust me Manzy's big half mile wasn't no Chili Bowl. It was a big bad track, and it was almost 5/8th. If you don't know what your talking about

The USAC 410 A feature Saturday was a classic sprint car race that fans will be talking about for years. Tracy Hines led the first 28 laps from the pole before fading to his 7th place finish. Hockett's No. 2 McMillan and K. Swindell's No. 10K Tom Rolfe Maxim/Ott then took charge and traded the lead three times in their cars from northern California. Hockett led L 29-30 and 34-36. Swindell led L 31-33 and 37-40. Hockett's engine sounded sour, but he was still a close second on L 38 when his engine erupted into flames on the backstretch while still at top speed. Hockett slowed and coasted to a halt next to the third turn crash-wall. He was uninjured. Coons, the 2007 WWC feature winner, then pressed Swindell before finishing five-yards back. Levi Jones earned third, with Darland, Sherman, Boat, Hines, Sweet, Shane "the throttle" Cottle, and Cole Whitt, 17, completing the top ten. There were 22 of 28 starters still on the track and all 22 were on the lead lap. Following his thrilling victory and one cool-off lap, Swindell did six quick 360-degree power-donuts from the starting line to the entrance to turn one. He then stood on the cage of his car at the finish line and raised his arms in triumph as his proud parents, Sammy and Amy, beamed proudly in the pits. Runner-up Coons said, "We had a real good car. After hot laps we made some good adjustments on the car. It was a real good year. The car restarted real good. We'll try again next year." Third place Jones also said he "will be back again next year." Winner Swindell said, "I got more comfortable as the race went along. I got a good run. I'll try to come back again next year."

Half the lies they tell about me aren't true.

Dear Grady -

When I first read your post, somehow I just knew it wouldn't take long before you got see what you were waiting on. I’ve never been able to understand why people can not except the fact that Sammy is an awesome driver, crew chief, innovator to go along with being a haughty, temperamental guy with an inflated view of his own talent, importance and sense of entitlement. Sammy does cover it all.

With that being said, I decided to give my "TOP 5 REASONS THE SWINDELL'S WENT 1-2"

5 * Twist of fate- the random occurrence with far-reaching consequences.

4 * Their equipment. Old, worn out, off the shelf Spikes with 10 year old motors that were under-powered just enough to just keep the left rears hooked up but not so much to cause excessive understeer.

3 * By having to push their cars back and forth the length of the building (weren't they pitting on the opposite side of building from the track?) at the end of the night they didn't have the energy to get arm pumped.

2 * Both cars started the race in the front of the field. What did you expect?

and the #1 reason the Swindell's went 1-2

1 * It was a case of being lucky enough that no one else did.
