Does anybody have picture of where you can watch the races from if you get a pit pass? I was told that there is a standing area with a rail. Trying to get to my first ever Chili Bowl with my dad. Thanks
I'd rather be in Knoxville.

A pit pass is $50 and you can scalp a ticket for $70 ish, it is well worth the extra 20 to have your own seat and be able to sit all night. It would be very rare if you couldnt find a couple of tickets each night you go. I dont have a picture, but it is a big ramp that goes down into turn 3 which is not a bad spot if you get a good one, but there is always a huge crowd up there, and if your not the tallest person its a pain trying to peek above people, plus standing on concrete all day and night isnt the funnest. Well worth the ticket price if you can find some.

If you want to enjoy the race, look around here daily and on Ebay for tickets on the front stretch. Also, don't pay over face value, there will be plenty for sale on here and also outside the entrance. For a 5 year stretch, I just showed up and got my ticket out front...

Are all those scalper tickets real? Have you had any problems with them being fake?
I'd rather be in Knoxville.

I've bought tix out front probably 8 times over the years with no problems. Just check this forum every day for the next month or so and they will start popping up here too.

If you buy a pit pass, there are actually 2 different places that you can see the track from. One- there is a very small section of metal bleachers right outside of turn 3. It will probably hold about 80-100 people. Only problem with this is, if you get up, someone can and will take your seat. The other place is a standing area right behind this small set of bleachers, also in turn 3. Most of the pit crews go there to watch their cars race. As soon as their race is over, this area mostly clears out. I have seen some lawn chairs up there, but I dont think you are supposed to do that. If all else fails, and you're not able to get trackside to watch the races up close and personal,,, there are 2 huge screens in the pit area that show the live racing action. Some people just pull up some lawn chairs and sit in front of those screens ALL day long. Good Luck, hope you get to go

if you go saturday there are a couple of one hour breaks, you can sit inthe cafeteria i guess, ive never been there, southeast corner. watch the cars come up the ramp, some will goose their motor a couple of times, they sound just like a full size sprint car inside the building. one guy wears an open face helmet,a bandana, and goggles.he's almost as cool as the old man that wears the two filter mask that funny car drivers wear to warm up their motors. have fun.

If you have a hard ticket you can go to the ticket window and upgrade to a pit pass for I think $15 and that way you have a guranteed seat and you are free to roam the pits and go back and forth as you please, we usually do that on saturday since its such a long day

I've only been a cpl times and got pit passes if u want to actually enjoy the races get a seat ,the farthest set of bleachers on the back stretch is good but youl loose your seat if u get up the next set youl either get covered in mud or dust (and not a little) the standing area is super crowded and its a loooong day of standing ,not trying to be a downer ,just saying if you want to enjoy chilli bowl get a seat

If I remember correctly the guy with the open face helmet and goggles was also wearing a t-shirt,pretty sure it was the world famous Kevin Olsen!!!

never heard of a fake ticket there. you see the same scalpers ther every year.I think they pick alot of their tickets up off fans walking in who have a block of tickets and a few in their group couldn't make it. I have been in this situation a few times myself . for the past few years there has been more sellers then buyers for tues, wed, thur tickets saw plenty sell for less than face. Friday and especially sat are a little more scarce and cost more but they are there. I would get your sat ticket earlier in the week dont wat till sat..
if you live far and want tickets in hand when you go like others have said ebay hoseheads or midgetmadness message boards usually have some for sale. most going for face value. Around $240 for 5 day set. Hope you can make it you will love it.

Last year I had my reserved grandstand seat. When I entered the complex on Wednesday (my first night) I went straight to the pay window and purchased a pit pass. This was a four night pass and I think it was 80.00 dollars. Can't remember if I had to show my tickets but I think that was the case. IMO this was the best of both worlds. Go in the pits walk around, come back and your seat is still there. Yes a little extra money but hey it's the chili bowl.

I agree with Stoga. If you want the best of both worlds,, buy a confirmed seat grandstand ticket , then also purchase a pit pass. That way you can roam the pits,,but have a definate place to sit when the races start. OR,, if you want to go as economical as you can,,then just buy a pit pass, , make sure a friend or family goes with you, park your tush in the pit bleachers,, then take turns saving each others seats while they go to restroom or concessions. That's what we have done every year and it seems to work just fine.
