As the season winds down... a lot of good people in here went to a lot of great (and some not so great) tracks this past year.

Where, in your educated 1st hand opinion, is the BEST place to see a sprint car race?

What is the ONE SEAT at WHAT TRACK that is 100% NIRVANA for a sprint car fan?

Thank you in advance for what I'm sure could serve as a HOW TO guide for many of us in the next year.

I go to 25-30 races a year and still think Lee County Speedway in Donnelson Iowa is some of the best around. With 34 raceway a close 2nd and US 36 in Missouri 3rd.

I'm partial to Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN...I've never seen a bad show there.....

For 410's, Husets can be one of the best tracks. High banking and running right along the wall makes for very good racing. Unfortunately, low car counts

360's, I-90 Speedway. Always a great turn out and 2 or 3 racing lines, also a very fast track. July 23rd's ASCS midwest race was one of the best I have ever seen.

The Kevin Doty Classic and the Gold Crown Midget Nationals at Tri-City Speedway were some of the best races I've seen in over 40 years.

From the infield in turn 1 near the concrete wall at Kenny Schrader's I-55 Raceway at Pevely Mo is about as good as it gets, in my opinion. You're looking up at the cars as they travel the high banks at speeds upwards of 130 mph. You're so close you can feel the suction as they go by. You can see the drivers eyes through their shields. They're on the top, in the middle and on the bottom, swapping spots every lap. Slide jobs are abundant. There's nothing like watching Jac and Steve use the turn 2 and 4 walls to launch their cars down the straightaway. How do they do that without crashing!!

The last few WoO races have produced finishes within a car length with someone coming from the middle of the field or further to make a last lap pass. Lucas Wolfe nearly got his first win with a last corner slider on Jason Meyers in this year's 50 lapper. Meyers drove back underneath and won by less than half a car. Last year it was 3 wide at the checkered flag.

If you haven't been there it really does need to be on your list. If you go, take a lawn chair, buy a pit pass and grab a spot inside turn 1. The chair is only to take the load off between races. You won't need it during.

TriState wether it be wing, nonwing ,late model or mods . 2-3 wide racing .Every race or Tom fixes it.TriCity is very good. Riverside for close up action .If you were closer ,you would be driving.

Knoxville for speed .Very seldom side by side racing in front. This year was exception .

Nope, I was there. The Nationals didn't hold a candle to the aforementioned races. Not even close...

I've been to Husets, Eldora, Clay County, and Limaland, amongst others (not all this year), and they all have their advantages. Knoxville is my home track (I hit about 90% of all local shows, and always the Nationals). This years Knoxville Nationals was by far the best sprint car A-Main I have seen in 27 years of being a die-hard sprint car fan!!! Your statement "The Nationals didn't hold a candle to the aforementioned races" sounds like the silliest slander I've ever heard in my life. To be fair to you and the others, I admit that I was not at the "aforementioned races" that you were at, but unless these tracks were running "Flying Sprint Cars", I have a big problem believing that this years Nationals didn't hold a candle to these other "supposedly magical" races.

So you are knocking the "aforementioned" races, even though you didn't see them? Go to the USAC site and watch the highlight clips. The Knoxville Nationals "A" main was indeed a great race, but there was 10 times the passing during the "aforementioned" races...And no pit stop...

This thread seems to have caught the reaction of 2 different emotions at a racetrack: the actual racing competition and the "electricity" regarding a particular event. This years Nationals had electricity and very good racing. It had a winner who was hot coming into the Nationals but still an underdog compared to Schatz and Kinser. It was an incredible event. Was it the best single race of the year, maybe not, but considering the dollars on the line, the prestige, the pressure, the crowd reaction to Sammy; it was an incredible experience for fans and drivers alike.

IMO; some were next to the tower (at any track) or in the tower they place the towers for the best view. I havnt seen to many races from the stands but the ones I have seen have been in the tower or on top of the tower the last 8 plus years

Hands down the Knoxville Nats was probably the best sprint race I've seen at any track in many years. Attica Ohio can produce some phenominal racing, definitely some of the best weekly sprint shows in the nation.

The Ditch in West Memphis, especially when it's tacky. It seems like you're sitting right on top of the action. On top of that, you gotta look at the history.

Lakeside in KC is awesome when the track is good. Boy but when it is off it is way off. I saw a USAC sprint and midget show there about ten years ago that would have blown even the most die hards mind. One of the Fike's went from 3rd to first on the last lap by going into the grass on turn three and sliding two guys. Awesome. Worst race ever was the Dirt Nationals at Terre Haute.
