Racers ... it is official the SALUTE TO THE LEGENDS will be at the Enid Speedway Sunday August 15th at 6:30pm.

We will honor such drivers as Ted Shepard - Van Gemmill - Hughes - Tipping and other stars from the Enid area.

Races that evening will be another NCRA SPORT MOD NATIONAL, last Sunday we had 41!

There will be the NCRA SOUTHERN SPORT MODS, A Modifieds, plus STREET STOCKS, PURE STOCKS, FACTORY STOCKS plus the new BOMBER CLASS.

We are also looking for an antique or vintage race cars to join us with our celebration of the Legends of Enid Speedway.

Questions call us in Dodge at 620-225-3277

What was the 1st year Van Gemmill started racing? I had him pegged at the earliest late 60's (68/69).

This car ran at the Enid Winternats once or twice. It's not ready (or I don't have the nerve) to run yet, and I can't bring it in this go round, but here it 'tis

The contingent is growing on the vintage thing through Oklahoma and on down into Texas. Cars are being built , so the party continues to slowly get bigger.

Tracks are figuring out that these are good for promotion. I sincerely hope this installment at Enid becomes an annual event.

Oh,

The way I understood vintage club territory, wasn't Enid KAR country? I hope I haven't offended anybody, but I had to ask.

I do seriously intend to get in some KAR shows in the future. Right now the cars are ready, but the haulers barely get me out of the state!

Paul Martens had the KAR down there a few years ago and had his open house etc. in Fairview the same weekend. What, that was probably 5-8 years ago though.

Did Kim Fairbanks ever sell the purple #26 that Larry Melvin from Enid drove? It just burns my butt to be dirt poor or should I say in debt head or heals. Dave Ramsey's program can't even help us.

Warren,

I saw the same car and I was in the same postion as you were. I just hope the car. if sold, went to someone that knew the history.

nice car brian, but from what we were told by Bryson Mills from KAR that there not interested in jalopies showing up just midgets and sprinters, we took Van Gemmills hudson vintage race car to 81 speedway a couple of years ago at the the Bill Hall Vintage Nationals put on by KAR and they wouldnt let us on the track,so we have heard there is a guy in wichita that wanting to start up a jalopy type vintage club

The KARS guys in Kansas run / have ran at my Dodge City and Liberal tracks this year and we had jalopies at each. I want them in Enid on August 15th. We need some old cars even it they do not run just bring em on an open trailer or unload and we will place and let these peole drool over the historical sense these things make!
