Racing From the Past

Dear Warren

We now own the Sprint Car which was owned by Buzz Shoemaker in the 1970s. During Buzz' ownership, the car was painted with the words "Gilmore Red Lion" on one side, and 'Shoemaker & Sons Sprinter" on the other. It was raced as #35.

Buzz sold the car to Mark Dees, after Mark's death in 1996, the car came to Australia. We have had it now for two years.

I found mention of Buzz Shoemaker on your website, and hope that you may be able to put us in contact with him. We would love to see if he's got any photos, or simply pass on any details of the car during his ownership. I list below our details.

Buzz is I think from the LA area and has been restoring cars for years. I posted your link here, these guys might know him

I replied: That I believed he was from California and may still be campaigning sprints cars as an owner with USAC/CRA. I would post this letter on our forum to see if the viewers could help out. I know he restored the Buster Venard car several years back and that he does restore others.
