Undoubtedly, we've lost a great racer and great person. I know jesse wanted to win as bad as anyone who's ever strapped up. His life has come to a tragic, and unexpected end. I don't know what requirements there are for the HOF but if there is anything that could be done....get jesse into the hall.how special that would be. Again, no idea if its even possible but worth a shot. I'll start the voting....

Jesse Hockett into the Sprint Car Hall of Fame should be a "gimme". He was not only a great driver and a big winner on the track but was a great and fun person off of the track. A real ambassador for our sport. And this past weekend proved what an actual winner on the track he was.
I have tried to get John Bankston in the SCHoF - and even tho' John was one of the most liked and respected men in sprint car racing all over the United States, as I understand it he just didn't win enough of the big races. Jesse Hockett did.

IF they have a memorial race they better have it somewhere with a lot of seating. Especially if its here in Mo. You will be missed Jesse. +1 on the vote.

He maybe only raced here on the East Coast a few times, both wingless and winged cars, but this is still hitting hard here in PA and I got to thinking. Seeing how Jesse dominated there last year, I think it would be fitting if next week's USAC race at Grandview were somehow dedicated to the memory of "The Rocket". JMO

Jesse Hockett was a hall of fame caliber driver/person and deserves a place alongside those already honored but "rules is rules" and all inductees are required to have been born at least 50 years ago - so, as much as I and his many fans and family desire him to be included, we've gotta wait, just like so many before have done. I have proudly cast my vote for Jesse in the last two or three annual polls and I will be proud to do so once again when he becomes eligible for induction (if I'm still around to do so). Those who have been, and will soon be inducted will be proud to have him join them in the prestigious group. They are no doubt proud that Jesse is knocking at the door after continuing the proud traditions of the sport that they gave so much to pioneer. I certainly regret that I won't be seeing him race at Knoxville in two weeks. We had planned our trip to include a stop at Double X to watch him in action on the way home. I am one who really believes that inductees should be able to receive and enjoy their induction. Unfortunately, we weren't given the choice this time. Jesse Hockett should enter the hall posthumously - that's my opinion and I think I'm safe in assuming that the majority of readers of this post agree. In the meantime, let's continue to support the hall of fame and honor its inductees.

C. In case of the death of an active individual under age 50, or an

a candidate who is otherwise ineligible shall be eligible in the
next regular election held at least six (6) months after the date
of death or after the end of the five (5) year period, whichever
occurs first.

According to the nomination procedure (in a nutshell), for consideration in the next ballot a one page only nomination biography - along with a cover memo denoting the submitter's relationship to Jesse and the date of submission needs to be sent to Tom Schmeh by September 1st. I'm not familiar with Jesse's complete list of accomplishments ... but anyone who is can submit a nomination. Schmeh will then distribute the most thorough biography to the Induction Committee.
The full procedure is available through the link provided above in the post by pic1940.
