Cat, there was a brawl because someone got black flagged. The drivers dad got upset with the call and a fight ensued with him and the track owner. The cops were called and no one was arrested.

Hey, Chunks, I heard that the black flag was for a wreck that involved a kid being taken away in an ambulance after a nasty flip. Any word on his condition? And then they cancelled the rest of the races. No money back, either. Lots of unhappy campers tonite.

That was the biggest fustercluck I have ever seen at a "race track". It was an embarrassment to the sport of racing. First they throw the caution to black flag a driver - then while cars are circling under caution a guy runs from the T4 pit area across the track followed by a guy or two and gets tackled on the track and they roll in the mud inside turn 4 (luckily they didn't get run over) then a melee breaks out and there's a bunch of bodies rolling around and punches are flying. Some guy in a black firesuit came running up the track to below the flagstand and yells "CALL THE COPS!!!" - duh .. ya think? And BTW - where in the HELL is track security???

I couldn't see a lot from my seat in the bleachers toward turn one - but I did see a girl run across the track and stomp one of the guys on the ground in the head. After about 5mins of that crap - the track announcer tells everyone that is not "authorized" to clear the track. That group slowly disbanded - and there's this kid that couldn't have been over 3 walking around in circles and playing on the track in T4!! in the midst of the idiots still yelling and crap - but then after most had gone toward the pits - apparently another fight started in the pits off turn 3 because that's where everyone started running toward.

Then on the way out I hear it was the driver's (that got black flagged) dad and SHE was the one that stomped the guy when he was down and HER BOYFRIEND assaulted a baby in a stroller by grabbing the stroller and dumping the kid on the concrete. I did see a couple bring a very small child to where the ambulance was still sitting unattended .... apparently the "sports medics" were in the pits on foot??? After about 45mins they said the remainder of the races were canceled for the night and they would be made up in two weeks - nothing about we're sorry folks - hate to see this happen - keep your ticket stubs or nothing just "goodnight"....

In all my years of going to races at all the tracks I've EVER been to that was the biggest crock of stupidity I've EVER seen. And I've been to some pretty little, nearly amateur tracks from go-kart tracks to hillbilly tracks in the hills of Tennessee .... On the way out there are 5 OKC PD cars sitting outside the pits -- but no one was arrested???

I took my son there because it had been a while since we had been to the races due to the Fairgrounds closing - we haven't been to I-44 for about 2 years and had enjoyed the racing last night until the redneck stupidity broke out ... it may well be another two years before we go back ...

That's crazy, man! What a mess. Hey, what was the black flag for? Was it for the big flip and kid getting hurt, or something else?

Thats too bad, I started to make the drive across OKC to go to I-44.

I would have been pissed too. Choctaw to I-44 & 149th isn't just a trip around the block.

Whats a real shame is the people who spend a lot of $$ and TIME workin on their cars only to have their one evening a week of racing ruined like that.

Not sure if that girl dumped the driver that took that hard flip (maybe it was as she was running back in that bunch) but she wasn't black flagged until after the race had resumed and then she was black flagged. I had seen the T1 corner worker pointing his flag at a car a lap before the caution was thrown and THEN she was black flagged (a guy in the parking lot said it was for "over aggressive driving" - there was no mention about the reason from the track "announcer" ) . The cars were still circling under that caution when the stupidity broke out. Then they threw the red as the track was being overrun by idiots throwing punches and wrestling in the mud on the track at the bottom of T4....

That driver was loaded into the "sports medics" van but I don't think it left the track because they restarted the race as soon as the track was clear - and I saw the "sports medics" van (or an identical one still slowly going down through the pits) and then it returned to its spot outside T1 - where it stayed (apparently unattended) until after we left....

Phil, you need to get your facts straight before you open your mouth. If you don't know what's going on and can't see very good from "your turn 1 seats" then don't talk about it.

Wescoe, to answer your question, that was a totally different incident. That flip was not a cause of this. Josh Marcham flipped down the back stretch and was shaken up pretty good. The last that I had heard is that he was going to be ok.

As for the redneck, hillbilly crap that Phil knows nothing about. The incident in the stands where the kid was thrown from the stroller, there was a guy in the stands that thought his nephew or son-in-law was involved in the fight. When he rushed down out of the stands, some part of him got caught on the stroller that the kid was in and it dumped over and the guy never knew it until afterward. I talked to the guy, and he was about in tears because he felt so bad about a kid gettting hurt and someone went to get the mother so he could apologize to her and make sure the baby was ok. And for the kid I was told he had a bruis under his eye but would be ok. They through the caution on the track because the driver was ignoring the black flag, this has happened several times at the Fairgrounds, in fact, I've seen Lanny himself run out on the track and beat a car with the black flag to get him to go to the pits. As for the girl that you supposedly seen kicking someon in the face, that it not true. There were no girls involved in the fight. The driver did not "stomp" anyone in the face, she was trying to get her dad to stop fighting. The sports medics were on foot in the pits because an official got sucker punched in the ribs and actually broke one of his ribs. When it was found out that there was a baby hurt in the stands, they kept one in th pits and sent another to check on the baby. I don't know where you get that there was a kid playing on the track in turn 4. I took alot of photos of the whole ordeal and there is not one kid out there on the track "Playing" as you put it. They have track security out there, but there is only so much you can do when there were that many people involved in the mayhem. When "Some guy in a black firesuit" came up to the flagstand and yelled call the cops, it was because his radio had been ripped from his head when he was down in turn 4 trying to stop the fight. As for the guys running across the track...the one in the firesuit was the track owner, he went to talk to the drivers dad because the dad asked him to come over to the gate to find out why his daughter was black flagged. As the owner came back across the track, the dad came after him, and so did the official in turn 4 that lines the cars up. There 4 cop cars and when you walked out to go to your car, did you not see that there was someone handcuffed and in the back seat of one of the "5" that you seen?? Nope,,,,you didn't. No one got arrested, they let that guy go..and I think it is wrong that no one was arrested, that is just my opinion. The cop said that if he arrested anyone, everyone involved would have to be arrested, including the track officials.

If your gonna get on here and talk about something you obviously know nothing about, then how about you go back to those hillbilly tracks in the hills of Tennessee. Know the whole story first before you open your mouth... and I think your signature at the bottom of your post fits....General BS is right.

Just home from Outlaw Motor Speedway and the Show-Me Late Model show and got to get up at 7 AM and be at my sons graduation at 9 AM and then eat with the family and then head to Cowtown to cover the NCRA modified south show.

Anybody going to be around here to help me moderate this baby? This thread could be a slobber nocker.

Wink

Thanks, Chunks. That all makes a little more sense. Or at least clarifies all the non-sense. Sounds like the dad was the main problem, arguing and causing the whole thing. You know, ignoring a black flag is kinda like arguing with a cop or a referee. You ain't gonna win. And fighting over it is just stupid! In your opinion, was the black flag warranted?

I'm not gonna comment on wether or not the black flag was warrented. I'm just the photographer, not an official, I'm not supposed to make that call. And I also don't know what all was said between the dad and the owner, just what I seen and what the camera took pictures of.

This is the kind of bullshit that is killing Racing in Oklahoma City, some (Phil) idiot with internet access gets on here and starts rumours from his obsturucted vantinge point and beer googles.

People like that need to find another hobby.

I hear they cheating in Bass Fishing Tournaments in Tennesse, maybe that would be something you are more familar with, and the Ambulance actually sunk trying to get to the middle of the lake while trying to rescue a new borne that was mistaken for bait. When the father realized the Tornado Sirens were going off he started fighting the Bass he had already caught. At that point the Police were called in to shut down the tournament.

That is how rediculas Mr. Taylor's description of the nights event was.It was unfortunate that that I-44 Speedway had to close operations early becuase of some.

Racing is a "HOBBY" at this level and all of the kids that are future drivers are all learning from their experience. Too many think they can spend the dollars to make their kid the next Kyle Bush.

If you have a bad attitude, or a money can win a Championship attitude, guess what that is what you are teaching our youth without regard of manners or respect for others.

I tried to keep my mouth shut on this but, i cant anymore. I am the track offical mentioned earlier in turn 1 we gave the driver a warning to calm down. Then on the next lap the driver went back to beating and banging on the car infront of the driver, The black flag was then brought out. Then the mess was on from then on. As for us calling the races and people being pissed off.. trust me we fully understand there are alot of mad people we will make up the features on June 4th. But as anybody who has ever stepped foot on a race track anywhere, anytime you know that after the heats are in the races are official rain, fight, tornado you guys know that. I went down to turn 4 to help brake up everything then i proceeded to get my throat grabbed and punched in the face. The COPS told us with the way everybodys temperture was going that it was better we call it for the night.

This situation that happened last night does not reflect the goings on during a typical night.i-44 normally produces excellent racing on any giving night. The track owner has been doing a good job promoting racing at that track, like anything else has some things to learn. The racing will only get better but there is never a gaurantee that an incident will not occur.Kirk is open minded and will listen to any suggestion someone may have.Shit happens at any track.

The poor driver. Little girl right? I feel bad for her. If they are banned for life from there (and they should be IMO) then she can't race at a place she was used to because her daddy thought he'd be a bad ass and get into a fight. I got news for ya, if you think your little mini sprint at some race at a little race track amounts to anything in this world then your priorities are WAY off. It's too bad one idiot has to ruin a bunch of peoples night. It's just racing people.
