With Eldora only featuring sprints 1 time in the next 18 weeks (Kings Royal) need some new suggestions of can't miss sprint car racing for this summer. On this site a few years back someone suggested Lawrenceburg for the Hoosier Fall Classic and we just loved it. I'm in NW Ohio and frequent Eldora,Limaland,Fremont and Attica. I've been as far as Knoxville and Lowe's Dirt track. I'm hoping for 410 sprints wing or no-wing, maybe something from Indiana Speedweek. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Kokomo is the best track in Indiana, so if you've never been, go there the day after the Royal for the USAC speedweek show. 2 of the best races I've ever seen have been at Kokomo. I think they also have a USAC midget race on June 20 as well.

Kokomo hosts the Ind. Midget week finale on Sun. June 20th. Ind. Midget week is almost a carbon copy of Sprint Week but they run it all in 5 straight nights. The added bonus is that each of the tracks also run a regular wingless sprint program with the midgets. I'm gonna try to get up to Bloomington and Kokomo for Midget Week. I've never been to Kokomo before and I want to get up there. Of course Ind. Sprint Week in July is a must see as well. Also check out some of the racing at Haubstadt if it's not too far away for you.

Im in Lima and I have to say the best sprint shows in this area are Outlaws at Attica, Brad Doty Classic in Lima, Kings Royal, any Indiana midget week or sprint week show, and the 4 crown nats. Races I want to see but havent yet are the Jim Ford Classic at Fremont and the Iron Man at I-55 speedway in Missouri.

They are both VERY racy bullrings - neither banked much ... Kokomo is walled all around - Gas City on frontstretch only. Kokomo has backstretch seating - Gas front grandstand only. They race on different nights so I'd say go to both. Kokomo is one of my favorite tracks anywhere, ever....

Like Gas City nice people who know how to treat fans and drivers.Only drawback to GC is the track. We are spoiled after going to Kokomo and watching 2-3 groove racing all nite best racing in the state.Gas City gets one groove most of the nite and can be hard to see much passing.

Thursday July 8th the Outlaws are returning to Lasalle Speedway after a many year absence. High banked 1/4 mile with the leaders always in traffic. Last time they were there they were turning 10 second laps and they should be even faster now.

Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway in Canada, September 16-18 Roughly 3 hours drive after crossing the bridge in MI. This year it is a three day event. A definite must see in my book.

If you ever have a chance to visit California the Louie Vermeil Classic at Calistoga over the Labor Day weekend is outstanding. The tradition of the non-wing sprint cars returned to the track two years ago and each year it is not only a race, but a really happening of sorts that is organized by the local fans and sanctioned by USAC/CRA. Northern California (Napa Valley) wineries are out in full force with a wine tasting, autograph session with past greats and current drivers, a great auction and plenty of raffle prizes make the whole weekend special. Lots of old sprint cars and super modifieds and a real feeling of the great history that is Calistoga is always present. The town itself is worth the trip with some very good restaurants and some old time drinking establishments. Alot of the Northern California wingers take off the lid to run this great traditional sprint car race. Also the midgets are on the race card!!
Another place to visit is Perris Auto Speedway, which may be the very best race track in the country. They hold the Oval Nationals at the close of every racing season and it is well worth the trip.
Hope you can make either show!

The 1 big difference..IMO..is the seatin at Gas City. Worst bleachers I've ever sat on. Your feet & the row down from you are the same set of boards.Which means their butts are between your feet & your knees are up around your ears. Bad deal for someone my age. I won't go back till they fix the bleachers.

I was at Gas City for a Speedweek show a few years back and it was bad. They messed up on track prep badly and it ended up a one groove borefest. Also in agreement over the bleachers. The locals swear by it though, and I've heard the regular shows there are outstanding.

Gas City on Friday, venture to Lincoln Park in Putnamville Saturday, and Kokomo on Sunday for a trip that is close together once you get to Indiana.
Kokomo has had unreal racing the last few years. If it isnt 3-4 wide at times its kind of a boring night for us,and thats still way better than most other places though.
For midget racing, you cant go wrong when POWRi is running at Belle Clair Speedway,Belleville Illinois. Its so good I quit my job a couple yrs ago when the boss wouldnt give me a few hrs off to go there for the Arnie Knepper Memorial race.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Half the fun is planing and getting insight of other's experiences at different tracks. As far as the WA,CA tracks they may have to wait till I retire, which I do not see happening anytime soon.

Ever been to Lernerville? I'm from central PA but IMO, L-ville is the best track in the state. The weekly 410 field is not great but they have a lot of good shows. The WOO has a twin 30's with the second feature invereted. The All-Star Sprint/ LM is a great show.
