"At about 6:30 p.m. Friday, worker from "Performance Electric" killed the power to the SFS Grandstand. Using a long pole from a bucket truck, the workers shorted out the lines. The fuses blew, just like the racers' electricians said would happen. "

Interesting

They sure are in a hurry. Why did that have to be done if they are so sure they have one?

I don't know if they've been down for some time or not, but I was over by the Speedway today and I noticed that the signs facing May Ave. have been removed.

They have block all access to the grandstand by putting up plastic highway dividers at every entrance.

Just drove by the speedway. All outward facing signage saying State Fair Speedway removed. All possible entries/roads into the front of the speedway barricaded. Graveyard dark. Save for a LIGHTED sign saying Toyota between two trucks directly in front of the ticket booths. Where the hell is that electricity coming from!

How does a concerned Oklahoma City citizen make sure that ALL city owned property is safe and not immiently proned to electrocute all in habitants or burst into fire. I am sure there are others out there.

Jackasses!

Bud,

I was taking pictures of some of the things that I saw at the racers auction that I thought might be a little unsafe.

Personally, I was impressed with water dripping from the ceiling by the fluorescent lights above the table to pay out from the auction. Street light and shop light at the south end portable carport had working lights as well. Fire up those emails, send to all those city officials requesting electric code inspections be completed for ALL city owned property. Reports need to be made public record, our safety is at risk here city wide!

Andy I took a pic of it as well as some exposed wires I found. I guess some masking tape works wonders.

Yeah it seems the city likes to mask many things!!!!

Makes a person wonder how many things are masked like that! Hmmmm maybe all of the old buildings in Bricktown? Maybe anything that is MAPS related?

I've done alot of excavation in the down town area. You would be surprised what is dug up. When OKC was first started there was no trash service. Maybe there should be some inspections on the new park and the Downtown Airpark soil to make sure it is enviromentally safe before construction begins. Afterall Public Saftey is #1! If they are planning on using the area on south Robinson for any thing remember all the salvage yards. I'm sure the area on east Reno has it's share as well.

edit; There were alot of old Oil Wells through that area that are capped off now but are they cleaned up? Remember if you make changes it has to be brought up to todays standers

Sounds like everyone is doing a lot of reaching to save something that can't be saved, funny how none of these 'things' never bothered anybody up until now. In short.....

Funny how it never bothered the city as well. The judge even blasted the city for never checking on the electric at the fairgrounds. When I mean fairgrounds I mean as a whole.

I'm not reachin to save anything nor anybody else on this thread. This thread is discussing the double standard the City uses when they want something and when they dont. But it's nice to know where you stand and where your support is focused.

WOW!!!!!!!!! That's not a very Christian thing to say. All I was doing was giving my point of view like everyone on here but, like they say, the truth hurts and the truth is LAST CALL FOR ALCOHOL.
