We lost this battle but there is still a war! The war is centered around finding another track or investor to build one. There are numerous items that would go along way in building another track. The possibilities to keep this track open seem bleek for the fact the fair can start tearing it down. Politics probably played a big role and needs to be remembered by OKC residents come next election. I want to commened everybody that is STILL envolved in keeping the gate open and wait for more options on what the next step might be. There is still a family out there in the Racing community that needs to stick together to seek out all options for the Fans so we can provide this type of entertainment for the residents of OKC.

The judge turned down the injunction on the grounds of the safety hazard that allegedly exists. He really didn't have much choice, the way it was presented. The basic contract issues, which were the basis of the suit to begin with, went out the window. The judge did tear a strip off the FG's and City, saying something to the effect that with a million visitors a year for one thing or another, he couldn't believe NOTHING had been inspected by the city in 55 years....until this came up. We all know the other buildings are in the same condition, or maybe worse, than the grandstand, and WHY they hadn't been inspected. Try to find a working 110 outlet in one of those buildings. I did find it interesting that the City attorney said "the City owns the grandstand and the Fairgrounds." Never heard that stated plainly before. As the judge said, "this case has been a comedy of errors, except it's not a comedy." Channel 4 was there, and I think 9 is doing something on the 10 PM news.

Based on what we've been seeing, the Judges account seems 'par for the course'.
City won't blame themselves, but they will the racing promoter huh?

Someone correct me if I am wrong here....What I gathered from what the judge said after his ruling, was he basically advised Lanny to file an appeal and told the city not to bother the structure or the electiric power feeding it, in the event Lanny wants the file an appeal....After today's ruling, I saw Lanny, his wife and attorney
coming out of the elevator and ask him if he planned on going forward with an appeal, he said he didn't know, but his wife turned around as they were walking off and said, "were not finished yet.........

This is true, Judge Owens left the door open for the Racing Community to move forward. He was upset with the way the City handled the maintenance and the eviction of Mr. Edwards. The Judge was also concerned about why the City and State Fair Board evicted only Mr. Edwards and did not evict Performance Electric Co. which has it's offices in the South end of the Grandstands.
We are not done.

That is so very true uncle everything is a go on our end. One of the statements, there were a few, I found interesting by the judge was when he said the ORA, fairboard and the city ought to find a solution to the problem as that there would be no way a new track built like the grandstands would ever get a return on its investment.

in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he

I was there both days and I did hear the same thing as u did. He encouraged Lanny to file an appeal and the citycouldnt doanything until it went to the ok state supreme court. So now there is a post saying performance electric cut the power today. We don't know if this took place, maybe one of our group that is going to the auction could check it out. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with it. I know they get away with everything. It was obvious the judge was on their side from the beginning. He was obnoxious and rude. Clay took an entire states basketball team away from them, that just shows us what we were up against. Power and money. This has been a terrible day and I will continue todo what I can , like Peter stated on tv. Tammy

Watch tv, and that is what they'll have you to believe. I really wish the news would put the truth out there.
But they just will not do that in OkC.
