If this keeps building, there will be more, that's the idea.
I have a tentative agreement with the promoter for the NSRA show at OKC to have a "static display" of 'Vintage Race Cars' in 2010, at NO COST TO THE CAR OWNER.
The number of cars is yet to be decided, but while I am waiting to get in contact with him again, I need to recruit 20 cars that would be interested. At this time the idea is to have them displayed inside the Cox Pavillion as an added draw to bring in people through the Vendors show.
This puts the vintage cars NEXT to aftermarket vendors looking to sell their products to the crowds brought in. More bang for the buck for everybody , and of course I want you guys to benefit from this somehow.
2010 is the year that the National Street Rod Association opens up its rules to allow cars '30 years and older' nationwide.
The foot is in the door, and we can build from here.

If this builds interest, then we can negotiate track time nearby.
Wichita and Wichita Falls are each 150 miles respectively from OKC, 200 miles from Amarillo, 100 miles from Tulsa.
The NSRA SW show is most usually on the FIRST WEEKEND IN APRIL. THAT WEEKEND HAS A GREAT WEATHER HISTORY HERE FOR SOME REASON.

UPDATE -10-15-09
Yes, Street Rodders LOVE dirt cars too...............
Getting ten cars locked in a commercial setting will give me the footing to go after "free hotel accommodations" OR "fuel expense money" from an outside source. I know I have failed at a lot of things I have worked towards, but I am unable to stop trying because I love these cars so much. I want to work on reducing the expense for this group. Ten cars is really easy, I have three myself, but the cream of the crop is what will work the best(Yes I will put mine aside for the better cars, count on it). Especially "Display Only" cars. Those would fit best here. I seriously doubt those of you who are 'hardcore vintage' will be dissapointed in the choices. The best of what is offered for this group is what will be displayed in the Cox Pavillion should the owner wish to do so. I am not the final judge as to whom fits this category.
Any more cars that wish to be there will only make the happenings better, and THAT will build the buzz for something to break through.
My deadline is the 2nd week of November, if there is not enough interest by then, I will have to pull the plug on the offer.
I'll worry about not going broke later.................
-------------------------Track time possibilities------------------
I have three tracks to look at closeby, the Fairgrounds is the most popular 'BUT', should a Fairgrounds option be impossible, there are 2 other tracks closeby that I am certain that would love to have cars like ours.

The list is building with some great cars. I just got back from Wichita Falls, have to go to work now (my 6 hour flu-bug is about to expire).
I'll chime in here later.

That is definitely a car of serious interest, I know you guys have put a lot of work into it and I feel it should be there.

How the selection process for the first ten cars in the Cox Pavillion is narrowing down to--
A. --Submit a car, submit a vote plan. My favorite
Offering a car is the best way to show how serious you are, that means you have the sweat, tears, or money to makes it happen. That also means you are voting for your car...... BUT also if you VOTE for another car, then a democratic process begins. Naturally the cars with the highest votes would get the key spots SHOULD the car and owner make the show.
B. Realistically we are all under the mercy of the top promoter dog, which is not me but the very people who have the power to say yes or no to ultimately letting us in--the NSRA. Keep the faith though, they seem to be fairly flexible right now with all the changes they are going through.
C. Or this yahoo writing this post could choose the cars, ...but lately I've been finding out that I don't know everything (that was a shock).
I do believe however that the backbone of what is forming is the open wheel super/modified, jalopy/modified, fendered cars and then the vintage sprints and midgets. THIS IS PURELY BASED ON RESPONSE, SO IF YOU DON'T SPEAK UP AND OFFER, NOBODY IS GOING TO HEAR YOU.

One more thing-
The last thing I want is a Brian26 parade. My stuff is a last resort filler in case we should come up short SINCE the cars I've heard from are what the people really want to see. They've seen the cars I care for so much that they would really like something new.
I personally want for this to grow into needing more space for the rest outside, and then I would really like to be out there.
Also we need, really need to remember the little guy cars, the ones that weren't famous but are great examples of what passion and junk can accomplish.
The street rod bunch and the mainstream people that come through like cool, but they also like fun. You guys bring both to the table.

Update-
I got in touch with the NSRA organizer today. He said the inside sells out pretty good every year. The room available may be stressed at 10+ cars, but he is going to check with his exhibit director.
The general idea forming is that if there is an overflow of us, the rest could possibly park around the circle where the vendors with semi-trailers used to park. Those vendors have fallen off in the last few years so the room option for us sounds good.
Keep in mind, right now everything is tentative, but it is reasonable. Both groups could help each other right now.

Getting down to my deadline, and have several cars to show them at NSRA. Next week I'll have to send in the list with pictures and a little history.
Track time is a little tricky. I wanted to have an option in case we couldn't run on the Fairgrounds track. The Fairgrounds track is the closer, however I think we'll need to approach the promoter as a group. With a solid showing on the car show side, we could be very persuasive. There is an effort to organize us down here and that could help alot. The size and venue as well as the proximity of the track make it ideal. Let us not forget the history.
The other 2 options we could look into are Brill(30 miles away)
or I-44(tight 1/4). I-44 is very tight coming off the 4th turn, too tight actually for 2 fullsize cars at speed.

Well they're busy being courted by all the end of the year stuff--SEMA, scheduling events etc.
Looks like next week I should have something to tell you guys.
Yep we're still on, things are communicating slow right now............
