(September 15, 2009) – Mike Walker and Bruce Crower set out to build a Midget
that would be very competitive and economical back in 2003. More then two years
of planning and engineering occurred until the #05 Honda Midget took to the
track with Bruce’s Grand Daughter Ashley Walker at the wheel in 2005. Shortly
after the Honda Midget and Ashley’s debut to the 2006 Chili Bowl, veteran
driver Greg Bragg took over the drivers seat and raced it to a couple of wins
and many top fives.Owner Mike Walker
pressed the pause button on his race team for just over a year in 2008 to focus
on his business.
In April 2009
the #05 Honda Midget was back on the track again with 16-year-old Jake Swanson
in the drivers seat. Jake has enjoyed years of success winning numerous races
and Championships in Quarter Midgets, Karts, and Focus Midgets.He has had the privilege to drive for some of
the industries greatest such as Steve Lewis (Nine Racing Quarter Midget Honda
120 car), Wally Pankratz (#8 Edmunds Focus Midget) and the Jeff Schankerman
(#88 Stealth Focus Midget).Jake has
worked very hard earn the trust, respect, and support with family, friends and
corporations to help him get to his ultimate goal, to be a full time professional
racecar driver.
Jake is one
step closer now with his new partnership with Honda Performance Development,
Inc. (HPD).HPD is Honda's racing
company within North America and is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Honda
Motor Co., Inc. Founded in 1993, HPD is the technical operations center for
Honda's and Acura's high-performance racing programs. HPD is the single engine
supplier and the brains behind Honda's and Acura's world-famous racing engines,
from IndyCar® to the American LeMans® Series (ALMS), and are now providing parts
and services for Swanson Motorsports Team for the #05 Midget.

combination. “I can’t wait to see what Cower and Honda’s engineers can do to

engineers will be able to get USAC to give us more CI on the 2.0 so that Honda
will be more equal to the competition. I know Bruce and the Honda

Jake
will compete in the rest of the Western States Dirt Midget Series for 2009 and
