The only format change I would like to see is having Schatz start on the outside of the last row of the E-Main on Saturday!
Maybe... just maybe someone else...... who am I kidding; Schatz would still be the favorite!
Can't stand watching him win, but the man is the best in the business right now and certainly has Knoxville figured out.
Gotta say it was a positive sign to see Saldana run well Friday night and Saturday. Joey always performs well on qualifying nights, but the scramble has been a bit of an achilles for them over the years. Saldana can hang with Schatz if the track is heavy, but nobody is in Schatz league once the track slicks off.
How about that for a format change.... let's run the A-main first next year!
All joking aside... I would like the current format over the proposal above. The idea is great, but I don't know how the track would react if there were 10 heats, 2 C's, 2 B's, and 2 A's all in one night. Even a bigger issue would be the rain policy.... that is a lot of racing to be done and rain isn't exaclty rare at the nationals. As much as people complained about this year's Wednesday qualifiers getting "jobbed", I'd really hate to see an afternoon show decide the top five rows of the Saturday A-Main.
I like the theory, but I don't think the timing is available.
