I for one liked the track at Lawton 7/11/09. It was sure messy packing but it paid off thru the night. It was a little rough but its the first time this year I have been able to lay on the gas really hard.

Congratulations to Mark Hogue for winning the Lmt. Mod feature!

I totally agree! I have not been to Lawton every night this season, but have been many times, and this was by far the best track for the entire night. GOOD JOB to the track prep crew! Thanks. wink

I have quit going because of the terrible track preparation, but if they start getting the track race ready instead of freight train racing I will return.

That sounds like the kind of track Lawton used to be known for.

Thats funny I won and thought it was the most one lane frieght train racetrack we've had all year. I was on the bottom every lap all night long because it was by far the fastest way around just wait for the guy in front of you to make a mistake isn't racing.

Sounds just like racing on a dry race track to me.

CA, you should come up to state fair speedway. You can run everywhere. The only problem is that you will need 4 new tires after the feature (that is if your tires survive the feature). I cannot believe it, the night that I decide to stay home and watch NASCAR is the night that I could have seen the first tacky track that I have seen in 2 months. I may have to make a return to the stands at lawton.

Heavy race can be a one lane race track as much as a dry one. A race track somewhere in between those. Still has some mostiure in it with some slick spots usally has the best racing. It makes you have to search around to find out where the car works best which can lead to good side by side racing.

I understand why sprint car guys don't like the dry its to hard on your tires. Maybe a solution would be to run you guys earlier in the program. I like a good slide job, hard drivin sprint car race just don't get to see a race like that much. At Lawton when its heavy or OKC even, its got as much or more to do with how much motor you've got as ability. Stanley is as good as they get on heavy, ask him if he thinks he could win at OKC with a flat tappet 355, thats my point. When I had the money to have a big high horsepower motor and have a spare at that, hell I liked it heavy.

If you have a race track in between a heavy and a dry it would be better for both. With it not being real heavy it would be easier on motors becuase your not luggin the motor real hard. With it not being dry slick and still having some mostiure it would be easier on tires. Then it is more about predicting what the race track is going to do and having the right setup.

Don't get it. You don't like it when it's heavy, you don't like it when it's dry maybe everyone who complains about track conditions should take up drag racing.

Its easier to spend a couple 100 bucks as i go for tires than 2500 or more two or three times for a motor.... Tacky is to hard on everything

Tacky is easier to drive on, thats the onlything i like about tacky

Dry tracks are more about setup and driver talent.

Tacky is for the deepest pockets...

I prefer the dry because it dont take as much money/HP to be compeditve...

C.A I'm confused by your post. After watching the thriller video it appears to me that the heats and first couple of features offered several side by sideraces. It wasn't until the the sprint & mod feature which you can clearly see the track had dried out (which you prefer) was it follow the leader. But by your own admission being a patient driver waiting for the guy ahead of you to make a mistake isn't racing. And about heavy race tracks being hard on motors maybe you should lobby the association to put restrictions on modified motors to make it more competitive OH wait a minute isn't that a limited modified. Or maybe they can put soft tires back on the mods so you can get a taste of buying tires every week. This will stop your LOL.

Yea maybe I should be in a sport mod but maybe you should be watching drag racing or NASCAR. Maybe the sprint cars should get on harder tires think about that. I don't mind a heavy race track in the heats but when its so muddy it takes an hour to pack the track and you still have to pack the track when you go out for the heat races thats a little excessive. By the way what car do you drive since you know so much? How much does it cost you to race? $10 a week?
