No pics just yet, but it looks like the Hampton 94 has found a new owner in an old fan. Looks like the car is headed to SE but not too far south, closer to "Mooresville".
Plans are for a full up resto including the Webers! Many believe this car is of the upper echelon lineage of the NCRA supers, and that includes this writer!
ain't it cool!

Now, step back and look at the big picture.Do you realize the kind of field the cars like these could make in 3-5 years if we keep the fires hot?
Don't let the summer silence fool ya, we be workin on them supers too.

new shot. All the new pics and info courtesy of Shane Carson on behalf of his friend Perry(new owner). They are looking for the pieces that were unique to the car, let someone know if you can help.

I have some pics of the car with Randy Willingham sitting in it. It was in a junk yard in Amarillo. This was my all time favorite car.
Never forget the very cold 16 October 1976 when Dale Reed passed George Armstrong on the last lap and turns 3 and 4 at the Tulsa Speedway NCRA race. George had broken a fan belt at about lap 33 or so but it was so cold that it seem not to matter to much. Dale just got a good bite off of turn 2 and his car just stuck in turns 3 and 4 and barley beat George to the line. Friggin great race. Kept telling my dad how I wanted to go because it was so cold. My dad just kept saying lets stick it out. He said "Reeds going to get him". I was probably saying either "yea right" or "whatever". I was 14 and of course never listen to him at all. God, I am so glad I listen to him that time.
Again, one of the greatest Supermodifed races I ever saw.
Overall, one of the classic cars.
Oh! almost forgot. It did when a Hutch national also.

Glad to see the Nance 94 being restored.

That was the best race that I ever saw at the big track at Tulsa. The first time that I ever saw the 94 was at the Hutch Nationals in 1975, it was very, very hot and I was watching the crew members run to the front of the 94 every chance that they could and put something in a cage. I asked Jerry Stone about this later and he said that they were putting "dry ice" in front of the raditor to help cool the engine, That was the only time that I ever saw that done. Has anybody else seen this?

Bkcr,
We did that alot at Hutch made those little baskets out of refridgerator trays. We also used it at Dodge and 81 SPDY on those SCORCHING HOT July & August days!!!!!!
Brian, I told Shorty you guys need to get a hold of Lyndon he could help alot on the #94 I've already told him a few things about it, also my old rival Jerry Stone is still in Tulsa & he ought to be able to help also!!!!!
I also remember that Tulsa NCRA race that Reed won it was a hell of a race!! Cold wasn't the correct word, artic would be closer I remember some teams closed off over 1/2 there radiators with cardboard or alum to get some heat in the motors.

Artic; Yea thats the word. I talk to my dad today about tht race. He said if he remembered right that it was already at about freezing when they threw the green flag.
He even smiled when we talked about the 94 car. He said it was just one the best looking cars around. Very historic car he said.

The first time I seen dry ice was in the late 60's. Joe Lehman in the blue little #6 from Denver who ran the Hutch Nationals in those days ran a big block of dry ice. That car ran asphalt out there. He always ran strong at Hutch, with I think a 2nd place or at least a top five finish one year. But had bad luck most years. That was back when the Hutch Nationals was really a nationals. Half a dozen Colorado drivers ran Hutch. There is a picture on the site of Joe and the #6.
I remember that artic cold night in Tulsa. Then it was an artic cold day at Enid the next day for the final day of the winter nationals for the late models.

I have the intake lid for the 94 car in our shop. It bolts to the top of a Chevy cross-ram intake and mounts two Webers. I bought it thinking Lyndon Moss was going to restore the car. You can see it in this photo hanging on the wall over by the sander and the drill press.

Glad to see that this car has gotten so much attention.
By the way Kyle, the 6 car looks great. Saw Randy at the Chili Bowl and told him the same.

As time goes by, many of us are kicking ourselves for not getting that car. The envy is only going to get worse I'm afraid.
