Yep, pretty nice. Anybody notice how the lines are very similar to the Wilhelm 24?

John, that is cool stuff as usual. A freind asked me the other day where he could find Sprint models, most hobby shops are either out of business or don't carry them anymore. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Allen

There's a hobby shop in Norman, Hobbytown USA, that has quite a bit of stuff. Hobby Lobby is a good place to buy models, too. Every other week in the paper they have 40% off coupons or on the internet. They do stock this kit that I used for this build. As Mike and I discussed at the reunion, it's hard to believe these things are $15.00 and up! I also find stuff here and there on e-bay and the model shows I attend. Thanks for the compliments!

Allen, There is a hobby shop here in Daytona Beach that has a lot of models. I bought a Grant King sprint & a Don Edmunds super there about a month ago. They also have a lot of assembled (maybe die cast) ones. They are champ dirt cars & 8 or 9 in a display case. they have a web site ( www.daytonaRacingSouvenirsHobbies.com ), email at, [email protected] and phone number is (386) 248-1670. They had 1 like the Johhny Lightning car Al Unser drove with the dual overhad cam Ford except it did not have the lightning bolts on it. There is another that looks like the red Grant King copy that Paul Marten restored. They also have hundreds of old coupes & NASCAR models. Luther

Try ( indycals.com ) . They have several links & you can contact them also. Or, ask Mike at , [email protected] He can give you a lot of info. Mike is likely the best source.

All hand lettering! Just kidding, I do most of them on the computer and then print them out on decal film. I use decals left over from other kits as well. The 1's are from Sammy Swindell's Chanelock sprinter on this car. I believe Mike hand letters the majority of his stuff.

Thanks for the kind words Luther,

Yes there are several ways to letter a model, most of mine from the supers I built were hand lettered when I was a lot younger and had a steady hand. Hobby Lobby has rub-on letters in different sizes and different styles of lettering, but they don't have a very large selection. Also if you have a "REAL" hobby shop in your city look for decals made for model railroaders that are either transferred by water or rub-on. I use some different techniques now but it would take too long for me to tell how I letter cars now, but it's not a secret, I'll share info. I have never thought I knew everything about modeling. I learn from other people too. Also type in Nascar model car decals on your computer and search and see what comes up.

I was dressing my own passenger up & a friend offered to pin stripe it. He went to a sign shop here in Daytona & had the emblems made about the size of a dime & put them in line with the stripping. The stripping is metallic silver on black & emblem matches the stripping. You might try taking a picture of the emblems you want to a vinyl sign shop & ask.......Luther
