Jeremy Allen is in the backup #14 pro stock as a team car to Steve Smith.

Justin Allen has no ride as of me talking to him last Saturday.

Rumor has it Kenny, "The Butler," Jr. has built a limited modified.

I haven't heard if there is an influx of young micro talent invading the sprint divisions in 2009 like there were in 2008.

I will go out on a limb and say the average car counts look like this:

modifieds: 28

limited modifieds: 32

super sprints: 28

champ sprints: 25

pro stocks: 23

yeah I heard a fella named Prescott bought the Butler champ sprint.

David, CCC certainly does like those car count projections - even though I think they may be a little optimistic - I still like em!

Would you to know if the first name of Prescott would be Pattrick?

Yes Patrick Prescott bought Kenny Butlers Champ Sprint and our enclosed trailer. Kenny Butler has went in thirds with Jeff Autry and B A Wilson on a Limited Mod. I think they will take turns driving it

I cant help but ask or mention. I heard Lanny had instituted something of a "rule" (imagine that) - that any driver running limited mods - cant run anything else.

I find this an interesting subject because my and my father both were able to make strong arguements for it either way. Personally, if this is the case - I agree with it in principle, but also feel that should come a lil later when a strong weekly contingent of the class has been built up. I understand the thought that its an entry level class. But I dont really see it that way. I see it as a very economical form of racing with its most important attribute being it is a much more level playing field than any of the other classes. A rookie 1st time sport mod could race against veterans in a class - that imho - offers a more level playing field than the others.

But I have not as of yet inquired to all the details of this "development". anyone else know or heard anything?

I would think that would be crazy, to make such a rule....

In this class, everywhere you go, drivers from all classes are getting in because of the economics. I dont drive, I just work on ours and Im glad there are a lot of experienced drivers. Who would even think of taking that away......

This would be a stupid rule. I can't imagine Lanny limiting the amount of money he could make anyway. Another car would mean, possibly, A few more pit passes and concession money. Besides, we all know that griping about another driver or team falls on deaf ears most of the time anyway.

I've been tryin to get along with SFS this year, But from what I understand if you race Mods you cant even race a limited when the mods are off. How is this going to affect out of town Drivers that might race mods somewhere else? Lanny please give more thought to the rules you make! We are only trying to make SFS the best in the Country but we cant without "YOUR HELP AND CONSIDERATION"!

LOL, thats the funniest thing I have read.Sport mods is not exactly an entry level class, maybe econimcal. Some of the biggest names in modifieds in the country have or have raced sport mods. Its not entry level when your lined up with Eddie Martin or Jason Hughes. lol

Its a good strong class that has made its way into Oklahoma and every track wants to change it or put out goofy rules like this.

And I am not saying the class is not a good place to start out, just saying that the class looks to be very, very competitive with alot of very talented drivers in the class from all over. If I am in this class I want to race with guys that are fast in modifieds its how drivers learn. I learned a ton racing with Tim Allen, JD and all the drivers in the stockers at SFS, learned alot racing with Autry,Anderson and all the guys that are way faster than me in the mods! to limit these guys from the sport mods takes away the chance of learning from these guys..

I am not saying that limited modifieds are exclusively an entry level class.

I'm saying that for someone without much experience - its a good place to start. Because you can get seat time and race in a class that, appears to me to offer a more level playing field than any of the other classes. And if you can do all the above and run against veteran drivers ON A MORE EVEN PLAYING FIELD - it works out well for everyone. In essence, I think I am echoing your very last statement.

I agree with you on the promoters, they all seem to rarely be on the same page. it is unfortunate and it does much to keep statewide dirt track racing from growing in some ways it might otherwise be able to.

Yea OKCFAN i wasnt going against ya there, more with some promotors or just Lanny that wants to make the class pure entry level or the way it seems he wants a rookie class.

like most of us are saying its a great class, lets keep it a great class.

I would say about 90% of racers want to race against the best, real racers do. That rule hurts the new drivers more than helps them for the reasons that have been stated above.

Your dead on OKCFAN about tracks changing rules. A while ago I seen a post that said something about other states have tracks that race on week nights and do well why cant it work in Oklahoma and thats the reason. One track runs sport mods, one track has b mods or limited mods another has sport mods but with some other change in rule, one track has factory stocks another has outlaw street stocks ect... The only class that the rules are the same at all tracks is Modifieds. And I am sure if we go threw rule books there are changes there too.

I hate saying I remember but it was great when we had the ol stockers and Meeker, Ada, OKC, Lawton, Ardmore all had the same rules most all the tracks copied from SFS rules and you could race almost anywere in the state on sat night.

the way i understand it:

if you are entered in yhe sportmod class you cannot race anyother class and if you race another class you will not be able to run the other classes even on the off night and i believe this goes for all three of lanny's tracks. i am racing my dads sport mod at the sfs this year and already planned it before the rule came out witch in one sence kinda blows cause that means i cant race my sprint at the city at all!!

but he will probably change that rule mid season when car count dies offf
