If you guys have never met dmantx, he is a super nice guy. I worked with him in Little Rock last weekend, and he took good care of us. I think I am going to try to make the Cowtown show. Who all from here is planning to go?

I am hopeful. i bet uncle a goes - as I understand it Joe Wood Jr. is locked in the show down there from being the last one out of the STN A Main.
its a really neat format. every car runs an A Main friday. which means 2 maybe even 3 depending on how many make it down there. i'm interested to see who all is planning to run it. so late in the year i'm sure it wont be some record or something. but hey this is really nice weather. and looks to be next weekend too. so maybe some might take advantage.
last year i think they had 29. not bad. i would think around that or a few more this year, they also run Winged 600 Mini Sprints - which are really good down there, as well as both outlaw and limited modifieds. it should be a good show. especially with the weather factored in - it doesnt even look like there will be much wind. strange for this time of year - but awesome too.
never met darin short yet. but i agree from all his stuff i read on here and the cowtown forum and everything - he seems like a really really cool dude. so what did you think of the STN David Jones? kick ass wasnt it? that saturday show is so good it rivals the Saturday night of the Knoxville 360 Nationals. i still think that knoxville night is the best 1 night of sprint car racing in the world. 100+ 360's - as well as a full field of 410's (45-60). effectively seeing qualifying, heats, then about 7-8 total features (the 360s run only features bout 5 of em - and the 410's an A and B - maybe a half full C). just great stuff. and i thought last year the saturday of the STN rivaled it. heats and qualifiers for all but 6 drivers - meaning about 85-90 runnin this sprint bandit format - and then last chance races and the Cheaters Draw Dash - i thought that was too cool. and then the A Main. last year - even in hotlaps - guys like jason johnson were trying so hard to get a bead on the track - that in HOTLAPS he was slinging it in like it was a million to win race - and then jumped the cushion and literally launched himself off the track. coming to a rest straight up and down (lookin str8 down!) against that fence over off of turn 1. i will kick myself in the butt for the next year for not going out there and staying here at SFS instead.

Yeah it was an awesome show. I am already making plans to go next year. I just have to figure out how to get the travel trailer and the wing trailer there. It has all the feel of Knoxville until you walk up to the track, I definetely want to camp instead of a motel. I told Darin they need to pay me to be there. They usually average aroung 30-35 cars upside down. This year.....2. It is just a shame that we can't get someone to promote a show here just like it(Shane Carson). With our facilities, it would be awesome.

i couldnt agree more. and SFS has several advantages that I-30 does not. both have great locations. but the FACILITY at SFS is 100x better than I-30. not to down them - i love that place. both times i been just loved it. but SFS has much better pit - everything. the stands at I-30 are like those at the now defunct Tulsa Speedway - and the parking ------ well - you know just what i do and then some DJ. sfs would be perfect to host it. but as i was hinting to about the ticket prices. if lanny charges 20 for the rather weak ASCoT shows ------ what would he charge us for a Knoxville 360/short track naionals type of show????? it sure couldnt be 20-25 for a big ol nationally renowned show. because then he could never get away with charging fans 20 for the regular ascot shows that he runs the 2 lowest purse classes with.
so you are right it would have to be an outside person doing it. like a shane carson. and lanny would fight it tooth and nail because he would still stand the chance of gettin shown up in multiple ways - on top of getting shown up as a promoter - anyone who paid 20-25 to see such a bigger show - would still laugh when lanny charged 20 for a much lesser show. not trying to down lanny at all - just giving my POV. i like that lanny tried somethin new with the mod show - hope he continues to build on it. but i think its gonna take someone else to give us a big ol' open wheel show.
will we drift in to the speculation of what our perfect open wheel nationals would be like lol?
