There was a post talking about a father and son in football on another board and it got me thinking about racing. We know that there are alot of 2nd generation racers on this board. The topic was talking about the expectations of sons in relationship to the fathers accomplishments. I was thinking what others thought about this.
To give you an example Kraig Kinser and Steve Kinser.

Hey Messmer, if you want to be technical then you could put Danny Wood in that mix of Jennings'. (I think I just got a dagger thrown at me)
You could get Dustin or Joey involved in this but don't forget all the Buntins. There are so many of them I lose track of names. And, of course, story has it (if I understood) that a Buntin is married into the Allens. AND I think that a Buntin is married to a Bohnstedt from Enid - and there are as many of them as there are Buntins.
Expectations? That is something Brandon or mabe one of the Buntins can share.

I was (am) a second generation racer. Had it not been for my father I probably wouldn't have ever gotten involved in this sport, and definately not to the extent I am now. I never felt like I was as good a driver as he was. Only got to race against him twice, and got schooled both times, but I wouldn't trade that opportunity for almost anything.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but there isn't really any extra pressure on me. I know that because of what everyone has been done before me, that I can do it too. The only pressure anyone puts on me is dad not wanting me to tear crap up haha.

Len Larkin / Roy & Joe Larkin
For me it wasn't pressure to perform on the race track, it was pressure to conduct yourself properly off the track. When you grow up in the pit area like I did, there are a lot of people that if you screwed up, would come up and kick your butt before your dad had a chance too. Then when he got a hold of you, it got kicked again. My dad was president of the OCRA for a long time, was an NCRA official, then he promoted races, and has always been considered a person who could represent the drivers side whenever they had a beef with the promoter, officials, etc. When you screw up as one of his kids, even now, it effects how other people look at him, and since he has worked 42 years on that reputation, I feel pressure not to do that. Now the pressure to keep up with my brother ON the track, that is a whole other discussion
Not living in the area anymore it's not really relevant, but whenever I've raced in OK the last 5 years or so, I do think about that.
