WESTERN MIDGETS RETURN TO TRACY AUGUST 9;
SARNA TOPS ALTAMONT MIDGET FEATURE
JULY 21, 2008 --- Nic Faas continues to lead the USAC Western Midget Car Series standings after his runner-up finish Saturday at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy. Calif. The series resumes August 9 at Altamont following “special event” status for the August 1-2 Speedway Motors “Belleville Midget Nationals” in Belleville, Kans.
C.J. Sarna of Palm Desert, Calif. won Saturday’s 20-lap race at Altamont in his K & N Filters/Surf City Backhoe Spike/Van Dyne Mopar. He led all 20 laps to beat series point leader Faas, Shane Golobic, Michael Faccinto and Scott Pierovich.
Faas’ point lead over Robby Josett, who finished ninth Saturday, stands at 96 points going into the August 9 race.
