Wow, 1999. That was a long time ago. Have we been doing this for that long? Since 1999 I've had two heart attacks, one open heart surgery, two pacemakers, finished college (finally), divorced one wife and married another and have three grandkids. SO...a lot of water under the bridge.
There might have been an I hate Buddy Cagle fan club at one time in Tulsa. I had one friend in Junior High whose dad worked with Al Lemmons, and I think he started the unofficial club. There was such a rivalry between Buddy and Al Lemmons, and since I was an Al Lemmons guy, we had a club as much as junior high boys can start them. But as I get older, more mellow, and hopefully wiser, I recognize Buddy Cagle's talent. I've seen several pictures, some on Danley Clow's site of Buddy way back in the midget days, driving as Angelo Howerton's teammate. Just yesterday I pulled out my copy of Bob Mays' "High Plains Thunder", and there were several pictures of Cagle in various cars and various tracks.
One addition to that story. One day George Mc----- and I were walking home from Junior High and we saw Buddy on a service call on the other side of Sheridan Rd., so he was a good couple of blocks away. George started yelling insults at him, and I can remember him shaking his head and laughing at us.
