Man WTF? not with ASCS - but with the racetrack in Hattiesburg, Mississippi???????????? According to ASCS website - the race was cancelled when it became known that the track carried no insurance. ok - how is this even possible? I thought a track had to carry insurance - or they could face liability and fines from the state??? Please tell me the racers didn't tow all the way down there to find this out. If so, one would think ASCS should have known this ahead of time and saved them the trip. But thats circumstantial. Its crap on the tracks part to not carry insurance. Well, could someone elaborate on this situation as to exactly what the hell happened? BTW even if the guys did tow all the way - and that would really suck - but even if - good call by ASCS to not let their guys go out on the track in such a situation........................and here are the cut and pasted results from the ASCS Sooner Region tonight in Boyd, Texas.

It's probably not as common as it once was, but you'd be surprised the number of tracks that "go naked" on insurance, or have a policy that's not worth a thing. Stupid, but it happens because money's tight. There is supposed to be a copy of the insurance policy available for review at the track, and anyone who tows to a strange track for a special event would do well to ask exactly what's on that policy before they unload. The only thing you can't tell is whether the promoter's check for that policy actually cleared or not, and short of calling the insurer, it's tough to know.
